작년에는 베이징올림픽에서 여자 체조 개일 금메달을 딴
미국의 나스티아 리우킨 선수가 올해의 선수로 선정되었었고,
올해는 현재 진행 중인 투표에서 쿠페츠 선수가
연아와 세레나 윌리엄스의 맹추격을 받고 있다고 하는군요!!

Each year we give you a chance to help us recognize those superhuman efforts that distinguish two champion athletes (one individual, one team) as your Sportswoman of the Year. It’s up to you to vote and decide who should be honored for their outstanding accomplishments. Athletes were considered for the 2009 award based on their athletic achievements between August 1, 2008 and July 31, 2009. Results from the 2008 Olympic Games were not considered as they were included in last year's awards program.
Award winners will be announced on October 13, 2009 and honored at the Annual Salute to Women in Sports Awards Dinner at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York City.

From August 2008 to December, she won the Rip Curl Pro Mademoiselle, the Moviestar Classic Mancora Peru, the Roxy Pro Sunset and the Billabong Pro Maui competitions, cementing her No. 1 position in the final 2008 ASP Women’s World Tour Ratings with 7,188 points; the second-place finisher had 1,654 fewer points than Gilmore. She set two world records for highest scores in the short program and overall at the ISU World Figure Skating Championship (March). Kim is the first South Korean to win the World Figure Skating Championship.
