Julio Jones broke his hand during Alabama's loss to South Carolina last Saturday, Nick Saban revealed in his Monday press conference.

According to Saban, Jones injured the hand in the first half of the game but continued to play. He has already had surgery to insert screws and a plate into the hand. His status for this weekend and beyond is unknown. The issue is apparently pain tolerance, meaning Jones can return as soon as he can feels up to it. They'll re-assess the injury on Wednesday.

Despite the injury, Jones produced in the loss, catching eight passes for 118 yards and a touchdown.

The Tide are already dealing with the fallout of their 35-21 loss to South Carolina Saturday. The defeat caused them to fall from No. 1 to No. 8 in the latest AP Top 25.
