Should be a damn good night of fights! ..with the exception of the cat fight since I've never been a fan of women's mma.
My predictions to win the fights:
Noons
Thomson
Galvao
I have to say, I feel I was 1 for 3 on this night... not because I got Thomson right, but because I feel that Cavalcante and Noons got robbed.
Watching the Diaz fight, it looked like Diaz may have landed more shots, but as usual, all shots were not effective at all. Diaz is know for peppering you with soft inneffective shots, but in the end, compustrike had Noons landing a higher percentage of shots! A quality judge should have noticed that AND the fact that Noon's punches did more damage. I had Noons, Cavalcante, and of course.. Woodley winning their fights. 1 for 3.
Not as effective? Diaz broke Noons' jaw. I like Noons, but Noons did not win that fight. He certainly wasn't "robbed", at the very least. He just seemed off on timing which he admitted to, and you could tell Diaz's four inch reach advantage was a huge factor.
Bottom line, Noons belongs at 155, where he should not have taller guys with reach advantages, and where he's not small for the division.
strike force u need better card's your never gonna be able to compete with UFC with these weak cards.. theres no good fights on this card except 1... step your game up strikeforce or people gonna call u weakforce
WOW.. only a newbie like you would call this a weak card. SF doesn't have enough UFC names to keep a newbie like you interested. Stick to playing with dolls.
True its not the greatest but its free if you have showtime.......better then paying $45.00 for a Frank Mir fight.
AMEN! Frank Mir sucks! Anyone who thinks otherwise started watching MMA when Brock joined UFC! GUARANTEED!
I got 2 tickets for less than the price of one ufc ticket and had a good time. Played ea sports mma with the designers of the game Victor and Rocky. Super cool guys, they taught me hands on about the moves and how to work the submissions and transitions. We played as Fedor vs Overeem, Diaz vs Mayhem, Cung Le vs Scott Smith and Fedor vs Couture. We had some awesome battles and the last game we played I made him tap to a sickass Fedor submission that only a few characters in the game can do and won a cool t-shirt for it. The house wasn't full but a good size crowd of mma fans. Everyone came to see good fights, I saw lots of strikeforce shirts and not a single ufc fanboy thank goodness.
I personally thought Noons did enough to win landing the harder shots and really wanted it to be called a draw. Marlos coenen really impressed. Everyone was ooh and Ahh when Kaufman started throwing the hammer fists but I saw conn setting up. What a great win for her!!
I thought JZ gassed his arms in that first choke and Thomson was the better fighter working better positions for the rest of the fight. I think unanimous was the right call. Maybe not 30-27, JZ could have gotten the third but not even by much. Josh Thomson to me clearly won the fight. JZ's gotta work on his conditioning his big arms get tired too fast.
I'm glad T-wood walked right through gala. Shows t-wood is better than people give him credit for. I for one wasn't surprised. I talked to him and knew he was working hard on his standup and haven't seen much from Galvao. I also liked Tyron asking for a fight in his home town on the dec 4th card. 1:46 was a tune up fight for him. That guy is a phenomal athlete and he's gonna do big things in mma. Im glad strikeforce has him they have lots of great opponents for him and its not ppv or a ton for tix
I had a blast. Everyone there was cool. There's no reason to hate on it unless you're a douschebag ufc fanboy. Dumbass fanboys need to start tuning in and getting showtime and going to the shows so we can get deeper cards in the future. They have enough fighters to stack every show they put on. Without more viewers it will never be possible. You idiot fanboys who buy the ppv's and don't have showtime and come on here bashing strikeforce are hurting the sport for the fighters and real fans. It's really sad. Strikeforce has the roster to put on Pride level caliber cards at Texas stadium. They could have a mw grand prix and hw grand prix. They could put on better fights than ufc can. They never put more than 1-2 of their best on a card. Strikeforce would put them all on one show if they had the viewers.
Diaz fight was a good fight, JZ fight was a good fight, Coenen was a good fight, T-Wood fight...MEH. Overall a good night of fights and a good night for Sf.
Pip why do you need to come on here to insult people. Without all your childish remarks your post would've been just fine. Why act so CHILDISH? Why, if SF, has such a deep roster do they not put more shows on? They can't even put a 5 fight card together, and that's the fans fault? It makes zero sense not to put more fights on a card, especially when putting on so few shows, if their roster is so deep. You say they can put all their best fighters on a card if they wanted to, but they can't even get their best fighters to fight on any card, let alone on the same card. Woudn't putting more stars on and better fighters on a card and promote the hell out of the card attract more viewers? Your thoughts are flawed and you are blinded by your irrational hate for people that you don't even know.
The only way to get more viewers is through marketing and putting your product out there. A good show twice a year does not work, they need more shows, THEN they will get more viewers. And don't be ignorant, if SF ever gets those viewers, they will IMMEDIATELY go the ppv model, no question. What will you do then?
Woodley may be a star on the rise, but after his 1st spotlight fight he calls out the champ? What? He knows he had to because there is no one else for him to fight. Why does he deserve to fight Diaz(maybe a fight or 2 at LW and he'll get a shot...ala Noons)
Diaz!!!
I'm a T-Wood fan and was worried about tonight, but the guys for real!
Yup, Woodley is a great fighter! I thought it would go to the ground and Galvao would have the advantage...but Woodley had other plans. We're not even done yet and I've had more fun watching this event than the last 3 ufc cards combined! UFC is the company that needs to step up their game! How do you have the deepest roster in MMA, yet put out boring card after boring card?? BASURA!!!
lesnars days are numbered he 's gonna go to sleep mark my word!! viva velasquez
WOW, SF judges are just as bad as UFC judges. I thought Cecil Peoples had the patent! Cavalcante won that fight.. hands down.
comcast cable sucks, here i thought all day that i was gonna get the fight but no, even though i get showtime i didnt have the right box go figure, comcast sucks, just like noons! lol
UFC or Strikeforce don't choose the judges. They are appointed by the athletic commission.
I was once again reminded last night on how much better of a job the UFC does with event production.
They just finished interviewing Noons and Diaz after the title fight, and then the announcer says to the entire crowd something like "now let's see what the next season of Dexter has in store for us" as they cut into a Dexter trailer. How cheesy is that. Stupid Showtime. Only they could sabotage their own event.
