BY JEAN AVISSE, CIRCA 1775, THE CARVED CANOPY LATE 18TH CENTURY AND ASSOCIATED
The head and footboard carved with fluting and piastre, with cabbage rose finials and tapering fluted legs, upholstered in pale blue-grey and gold silk damask, the arched canopy carved with egg-and-dart and foliate arabesque, the interior carved with rose spray spandrels, the underside of one head/footboard stamped twice I. AVISSE, one long rail stamped three times to underside
The bed: 52 in. (132 cm.) high, the head and footboard, 79 in. (201 cm.) long, not including upholstery, 87 in. (221 cm.) including upholstery, 57 in. (145 cm.) deep; the canopy: 9 in. (23 cm.) high, 77½ in. (197 cm.) wide, 46½ in. (118 cm.) deep
