ALPHA-Toronto invited me to have a private screening at their event. This conference is for educating teachers in Canada about history in Asia during the WWII. ALPHA-Toronto invited a former comfort woman, a former POW, a Japanese veterans, researchers, lawyers from all over the countries. Teachers who came from all other cities in Canada got to learn history in the first hands. I am honored that I was a part of this historic event.
I always wondered how we could deliver this unknown history to more people. Even if we have small exhibitions, only children who are already interested in this subject will show up. I thought it was not enough. Therefore, I made this documentary but I realized it was difficult to make people sit down and watch it.
However, if teachers learned this war crimes and they can educate children how horrible wars are. Students will be exposed to this history without making effort in their history class. How fantastic idea is this?
All teachers who watched my documentary told me that the documentary was easy to understand the subject and it was good studying tool in their history class.
I hope the board of education in Canada will be interested in using my documentary for their educational tool in their schools, so that children can learn this hidden history.
