Jon Stewart Jokes About Rick Sanchez Controversy

Jon Stewart stayed mum during the recent commotion over at CNN, where Rick Sanchez was fired this week (after a six-year career at the network) because of inflammatory -- now infamous -- remarks he made on a satellite radio program about Stewart's ethnicity and upbringing.
However, at a fundraiser in New York City last night, the stand-up comic in Stewart couldn't resist making a few cracks about the controversy.
Playing emcee for the taping of Comedy Central's 'Night of Too Many Stars' (airing Oct. 21), the 'Daily Show' star entreated viewers to donate to the cause of autism education, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Then he qualified the request, joking: "If you went on radio and said the Jews control the media...you may want to hold on to your money."
In a clear reference to Sanchez (and his caustic public comments saying that people who are Jewish wield power at TV networks), Stewart added, "All he has to do is apologize to us, and we'll hire him back."
The aptly titled 'Too Many Stars' benefit was indeed lousy with comedy's biggest names, including appearances by Tina Fey, Chris Rock, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon and Tracy Morgan.
David Letterman made a punchline out of the CNN brouhaha, too, telling the crowd he was in town just "helping Rick Sanchez clean out his office."
And making an appearance at the performance, even wry, retired anchor Tom Brokaw reportedly ribbed Sanchez while onstage.

HEE'UMER

Do you speak from personal experience and/or knowledge of the subject? Just sayin' . . .
You must be thinking of Dennis Miller, not Jon Stewart.
When you said "Tracy Morgan" was a star then I KNEW YOU WERE LYING!! WHAT A WASTE OF HUMANITY!!!
jon stewart is homely
Like you!
bmuD erA elpoeP gniW thgiR , Yes lol ?
Stewart is incredibly bright and flat out funny. His Daily Show pillories the right (and sometimes the left) by making light of their absurdities. Don't like him? I'm sure he loses sleep at night as do the rest of us. Now run back to FOX. Someone there is telling you what to think. You couldn't operate without your walking papers.
Who asked you?
Why do say that?
Is this another form of bullying? You can push and push and push when a person will finally erupt. Thank God this was only the use of words ang not gun fire!

you got that right. bullying is tolerated with the likes of Nancy Grace, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. How can we teach our kids not to bully when they watch it constantly on TV.
Sanchez is a turd. Stewart didn't even have to poke fun. Sanchez just had to open his mouth. A gun? Now that's the Taliban in you talking. Nice work.
I think it is a shame that they fired him, people are going crazy about always being politial correct in what you say, I watched him every day and loved him, he was great on his TV show All these TV stars making fun of him need to be fired to
Your kids see bullying on tv? Don't let a tv raise your kids.
rick sanchez sucked, he was one of many reasons i stopped watching CNN years ago.
