Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei accused in Tyler Clement’s suicide

Dharun Ravi is one of the accusers held responsible in Tyler Clement suicide case. The other accuser in the case is Dharun Ravi’s friend Molly Wei, whose computer has been used to live-stream the sex act between Tyler Clement and another university boy.

Tyler Clement and Dharun Ravi were the roommates at Rutgers University, but they were neither friends nor someone saw them talking to each other on the university campus, in fact Tyler Clement requested the University management for a room change, which was denied.

According to news Tyler Clement jumped off the George Washington Bridge parting Upper Manhattan and New Jersey to him death, after his roommate Dharun Ravi and his friend Molly Wei cyber bullied him.

According to the reports Dharun Ravi used Skype to record and broadcast Tyler Clement’s sexual encounter with another university boy on the 19th September, then again on 21st September, without the consent of Tyler Clement.

After finding out about the video-streaming Tyler Clement got so dishearten that he jumped off the bridge to his death.

Police have found the body of 18-year-old freshman yesterday on Wednesday September 29, 2010.

Authorities said that if medical examiner confirms that the body found is of Tyler Clement’s, the two accusers Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei could face a sentence of five years in jail for privacy invasion.

These two mean spirited individuals should get what they deserve. An Indian and Chinese.

    • Nick says:

      Hey Peter-
Why don’t you just stick to the facts here and not bring your own ignorance into this. Yeah, they’re both sick and deserve to be punished, but so what they’re “And Indian and Chinese.???” Go back to your trailer park and please don’t use the internet anymore.

    • True Indian says:

      Dude,

don’t bring nationality into picture. remember that you have most horrible guy of this century “BUSH” and also remember that those indian and chinese are infact “AMERICANS”

      • Emar says:

You both say not to bring nationality into the picture, but you just contradicted yourselves by calling him white trash and stereo-typing him to a trailer park! What’s with that?! Yes he was wrong for saying that but you’re also wrong for assuming his stereotype. And what does bush have anything to do with this situation?! and what is an american really?! We’re all immigrants and need to give the US back to it’s rightful owners… the Native Americans!!!!!!!

      Grow up….

    What a tragedy!
Ravi and Wei acts are despicable and should bear the consequences of hate crime.

I would love to the opportunity to kick Dharen and Molly in the face…

  4. Danny Foster says:

It was very mean-spirited of these people to perform such a horrible act. Let’s show some composure though: as horrific as their acts were, they undoubtedly had no idea just how tragic the consequences would be. They were young, stupid, insensitive KIDS with a misguided sense of humor. I am sure they did not foresee the poor victim committing suicide over the terrible prank.

Who hasn’t participated in some stupid hazing or teased someone, at some point in his or her life? While I also demand consequences for what happened, I can’t see the benefit of sending these stupid kids to prison for five years. What’s the point? Suspend them from the university for a couple of years. Force them to volunteer at suicide prevention clinic. Force them to work in an inner city school for a year or two. Send them to prison though? Come on.

    • Ed Blanchette says:

Are you kidding? Ravi and Wei certainly displayed much more than “…a misguided sense of humor” as you charactirize their actions. What I see is intense prejudice and an extreme and quite deliberate invasion of privacy design to bully, harrass, and ridicule. It was a hate crime and deserves an appropriate judicial response. A few months in jail would send a clear message to others that this type of “joke” (as you might call it) is no joke.

  5. Ed Blanchette says:

This was clearly a hate crime and deserves substantial and well-publicized jail time for both of these louts. Significant consequences for this type of harrassment may be the only effective way to prevent similar crimes in the future.

2 miserable cads who have caused somebody to die, the least the judge can do is give them 40 lashes and 10 years prison. Gee their parents must be pleased at the half-wits they have raised.

  7. Annie says:

Their ethnic backgrounds have nothing to do with this. I am Asian myself and I am disgusted with Wei and Ravi. I hope they both get jail time for this.

  8. sakura says:

    Is not this indirect murder?
I pray that his soul rest in peace.

    Dear Molly and Dharun:
I just wanted to pass on something a friend of mine has to deal with.
He did something similar to what you did, and his victim ended up taking his own life, too.
Today, my friend is genuinely remorseful and wishes more than anything that he could take back what he had done.
He says that, on top of feeling miserable everyday, he is constantly plagued with death threats from anonymous persons.
He can’t even sit still in a restaurant, incessantly looking over his shoulder, fearing someone is observing him.
To think that he actually did jail time and paid his debt to society, still to this day, his suffering is more than you can imagine.
Molly and Dhuran, I wish you all the luck you can get. You’re gonna need every bit of it in your long lives ahead.
    May God forgive you both.
