Marco Rubio is solidifying his lead over Independent
Charlie Crist in Florida's Senate race, with Democratic
Kendrick Meek gaining some ground against Crist, according to a
Mason-Dixon Research poll conducted Sept. 20-22 for Florida newspapers.
Rubio leads with 40 percent to 28 percent for Crist and 23 percent for Meek. The margin of error is 4 points.
Last month, Rubio had polled 38 percent, Crist had 33 percent and Meek had 18 percent.
A critical factor for Crist in the campaign has been how many Democratic votes he could attract, and the more success Meek has in building support in his own party comes at Crist's expense.
"Crist is bleeding Democrats to Meek and independents to both Meek and Rubio," Mason-Dixon's Brad Coker told the St. Petersburg Times.
Coker said that, for Rubio, being at 40 percent in a three-way race puts him in "a solid position to win."

Our New Approach to Comments
In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers –
a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around.
