Rob Morrow & Maura Tierney Give Me 'The Whole Truth' On Their New Show (VIDEO)

That's just one reason why their pairing on 'The Whole Truth' (premiering Wed., Sept. 22 at 10PM ET) feels like a match made in heaven. Playing two opposing legal sides in a courtroom, both lawyers are sharp, witty and obviously share an interesting past. (The same couldn't be said for the original pilot, which had 'Nip/Tuck' alum Joely Richardson in the female lead role. So happy Maura was available and healthy enough to step in!)
'The Whole Truth' follows both sides of the trial, with Tierney's by-the-numbers Kathryn Peale prosecuting and Morrow's unorthodox Jimmy Brogan defending. Audiences will get a look at how each side prepares the case and, in the last few moments of the show, find out who or what was really behind the crime. Sound too procedural? Don't let the description and commercials fool you, the series is filled with subtly revealing moments for the leads -- just how close were Peale and Brogan as classmates at Yale Law? -- and the supporting players.
I caught up with Rob and Maura to get their take on this not-always-dramatic legal drama, why it's good that the bad guys sometimes get off, how 'My Cousin Vinny' might help them prep and their phenomenal wishlists for dream guest stars.

I am really looking forward to the new series The Whole Truth because it concerns prosecutorial misconduct. I was prosecuted in Steamboat Springs Colorado by Elizabeth Wittemyer, the spouse of real estate developer Chris Wittemyer, because I asked the police whether the city council president Kevin Bennett was a drug dealer and complained that the three buildings he built in 2000 violated the zoning. Then in 2009 Bennett admitted that he had a felony record for conspiracy to sell hash and the assessor said that there are many illegal buildings in Steamboat Springs and enforcement of the regulations is lax. The extra buildings, suitable as residences, aren't on the property tax rolls.
Just the bogus charge ruined my life. I was described as crazy and Wittmeyer made a public statement that there was probable cause and a victim but that a trial was too expensive. However, she skipped the written statement of probable cause, the required arraignment, and the required oral hearing when a criminal charge is dismissed. An injunction was issued in her name without her filing a motion or appearing and was continued without a statutory basis after she dismissed the baseless criminal charge, since I refused to plea bargain. My former neighbor Jane Bennett followed me around calling the police whenever she could see me. The police reported to her husband the drug dealer, or former drug dealer, so who knows what was happening. My neighbor filed a police report saying that she had been following me trying to take my photo so that she could prove she was within 30 feet of me and therefore they should put me in jail and she complained that she saw me in my yard minding my own business. I think their plan was to get some member of my family into a fight and then kill them and claim self defense. The police wouldn't even investigate a bullet hole through our window. We were forced by this harassment to sell our home to our neighbor's lawyer for only $580,000, because it was not safe for us to live there, and now it is for sale for $1.3 Million.

We tried to sue in federal court but Lloyds of London insured our defendants and our case was transferred to former federal judge Naughty Nottingham. He was a customer of the Denver Players brothel and a report on a search warrant shows that so were many lawyers, or at least the Denver Players brothel had the credit card numbers of lawyers when Nottingham, and probably his United States Marshal Service security guards, used the prostitution services. I really think my defendants or their lawyers paid for Nottingham's prostitutes. So in our case, Nottingham didn't issue a memorandum opinion. He just skipped that. Then at the request of my defendants Nottingham skipped a criminal charge, an arraignment, a bail hearing, a trial and a sentence and USMS put me in jail for 5 months to force me to give up on the idea of ever getting a hearing on the merits. Pure extortion and witness intimidation! A federal prosecutor showed up at a hearing and said "the government isn't a part of this" but approved my being held totally without charges or arraignment or bail hearing for three weeks while the USMS classified me as a high security prisoner, had me strip searched, took me 1200 miles in chains, and left me 1200 miles from home with absolutely no money and no ID or credit card, which I was not allowed to bring with me.

Just a note to let readers know that I emailed the above to two different lawyers at DOJ, David Rybicki and Craig Lawrence, so that they can confirm that I was detained by DOJ for 5 months without a criminal charge, arraignment or bail hearing for the stated goal of interfering with my lawsuit against the City of Steamboat Springs, Kevin Bennett, Jane Bennett, Elizabeth Wittemyer etc. I also emailed it to jpeasley@steamboatsprings.net, slorson@steamboatsprings.net, wch2@mindspring.com
assessor@co.routt.co.us, cdunham@co.routt.co.us, and
DMitschBush@co.routt.co.us asking them to let me know if there are any inaccuracies. The first two are city planners at the City of Steamboat and they can confirm that the city only enforces its zoning laws sometimes. The third was my criminal defense lawyer and he can confirm I was prosecuted without a warrant, written statement of probable cause or arraignment (required by state statute) and that it was dismissed without the required oral hearing. Carl Dunham is the building inspector and he can confirm that there are building permits for the extra buildings built by Bennetts in 2000 at 701 Princeton Ave. The assessors office and Diane Mitsch Bush, Routt County Commissioner, can confirm that the total square area of buildings taxes at 701 Princeton Ave is the same as it was in 1950 and doesn't include the buildings built in 2000 or others if any. So basically if you complain that there are buildings that violate the zoning, which aren't even on the property tax rolls even when they have heating and plumbing, and you live in Steamboat Springs or Routt County CO you may be criminally prosecuted without criminal procedure and you may be hunted down by the police and or your neighbors and threatened with jail unless you move away.
Another thing about Steamboat is that you can be prosecuted in municipal court and sent to jail with only a three person jury for violating any municipal ordinance even those they don't enforce. For instance, Steamboat still has an ordinance that requires everyone to get a gardening or trimming permit just to mow the lawn or trim bushes between their property line and the paved street. The city doesn't mow or maintain those strips along the street. They don't even have a gardening or trimming permit. But the city manager sent a policeman to serve me with a letter that I had supposedly broken a law when my landscaper mowed and trimmed in exactly the same fashion as my neighbors did. None of them had mowing and trimming permits either and they all either mowed and trimmed themselves or paid someone to do it. But with me I was told I would be criminally prosecuted for that unless I gave up my rights to use 6000 square feet of city land including paved street adjoining my former property and sold land to Kevin and Jane Bennett for $1.

I see someone else has noticed the similarities between Tierney and Morrow's former costar and romantic interest on Northern Exposure (how I miss that show!) Ms Janine Turner....perhaps Ms Turner will show up on a future episode, playing perhaps Tierney's character's sister? They really look a lot alike now since Tierney now has short darker hair! I would love to see an onscreen reunion of sorts between Morrow and Turner...what interesting chemistry they had.
