This must be me being spoiled by UT, but is there anyway to auto record demos instead of manually inputing the command into the console before every game?

I remember reading a script somewhere that was ] to start and [ to stop recording, but I don't know where.  If I find it, I'll post it.

Your not the only one that got spoiled by using auto record for demos, so here are a couple that work.

I think this may be the one Boney526 was talking about.

//** DEMO RECORDING **//
bind "]" "record TF2DemoNameGoesHere"
bind "[" "stop"

And the one I use:  This simple script toggles demo recording. Press "x" once to record to a demo named "tf2demo1", and again to stop recording.

//Toggle Record Demo
alias recdemo "recon"
alias recon "record TF2Demo1; developer 1; echo Recording Demo!; developer 0; alias recdemo recoff"
alias recoff "stop; developer 1; echo Demo Complete!; developer 0; alias recdemo recon"

bind "x" "recdemo"

if you start recording and stay in a server every new map will get it's own demo file... like if you name it demo.dem... then the next map will be demo_1.dem (or something like that).. then you can rename them later, delete the ones you don't want, etc

That looks like a good one. Does it overwrite it to the same file name each time you do it?

Cronoz, read Special K above.  I believe it records up to 9 in one session and if you don't delete or rename them after the 9 (9 maps), it could very well overwrite.
The Demo Record you quoted is not the one I use so what I just said applies to the second one, it could also apply to the first but I have no hands-on experience with it.
Your best bet is to record a session up to 9 exit the game rename/delete and the next time you record it will begin with the same file name, demo_1.dem etc.

That wasn't what I meant. Special K said that if you stayed in the server it would record up to 9, but what I meant was if you join different servers and hit the bind if it would overwrite the previous one.

Thanks, Cyn.

Ive got the ability to record 81 demos from my numberpad, have 0 be "stop" and have 1-9 be "record tf2_demo#"

That way you'll never overwrite
