The Grand Ole Opry has had numerous homes over the past three months, but five months to the day of the devastating floods in Nashville, on October 2, the world-famous radio show will start a month-long celebration of its 85th birthday back at the newly refurbished Grand Ole Opry House.

The Spirit of Nashville Day will be free to the public and is meant to celebrate the love and support that Nashvillians and friends around the world showed to the Opry when its longtime home was ravaged by the rising waters of the Cumberland River. Fans can get a look at the remodeled Opry house on October 2, when tours will be available through the auditorium, green room and dressing room areas.

    The Band Perry
will perform throughout the day on the Opry Plaza. There will be three Opry performances as the show returns for its first weekend back in the venue. The premier Grand Ole Opry performance in the refurbished house will be the prior Tuesday, September 28.

Michael Jackson Honored With Bluegrass Tribute Album

    AP

Michael Jackson, who would have turned 52 years old on August 29, is now the subject of an unusual tribute album with a bluegrass twist. 'Songs from Neverland' by a trio of musicians known as Honeywagon, features grassed-up versions of 10 of the late King of Pop's greatest hits.

The self-described "newgrass" trio have "picked on" pop and rock artists before, spending more than 70 weeks on Billboard's Bluegrass Albums chart with their bluegrass versions of tunes by pop-punk superstars Green Day, called 'Green Day Blue Grass.' They've also released 'Grass Stains: a Bluegrass Tribute to Blink 182' and an album of grassy Rolling Stones covers titled 'Sympathy for Bluegrass.'

    Jennette McCurdy Releases Debut EP

    Capitol Nashville

She's already a huge TV star, thanks to her role on Nickelodeon's hit series, 'iCarly,' and now Jennette McCurdy is also well on her way to being a country star. The 18-year old released her first country music project, an EP titled 'Not That Far Away,' this week and now she's ready to take the music world by storm.

"I really wanted to just be honest to myself, stay true to myself with every song and deliver a CD that I felt reflected who I am as a person and tell the stories of my life because I feel that that's what people will relate to the most," says Jennette. "Country music strikes a chord in peoples hearts that makes you think, 'Wow! I know exactly what they're talking about. I felt that before.' I wanted people to be able to feel the same thing and I felt that could only be accomplished if I really wrote what I knew."

Trisha Yearwood Sips Wine, Shares Garth Stories on 'Today'

    Jon Kopaloff, FilmMagic.com

Trisha Yearwood received a bit of advice from John Rich when she took the co-host chair on the fourth hour of NBC's 'Today' show opposite co-host Hoda Kotb on Thursday, August 26.

"Trisha, you are arguably one of the greatest country singers who ever sang a country song," John said in a pre-taped video segment. "So if you get lost or you get nervous, just start singing and everyone will tune in!"

Trisha was filling in for the show's other regular co-host, Kathie Lee Gifford, who is off this week. In fact, country stars have been filling Kathie Lee's high heels all week. John took over the co-hosting duties on Wednesday, following Blake Shelton and Martina McBride on Monday and Tuesday. Josh Turner will round out the week as co-host on Friday.

The third time is the charm for Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, as the pair team up once again to host this year's CMA Awards. Brad and Carrie attended a press conference Thursday morning, August 26, at a studio located north of Nashville as they were announced as the hosts with the most again.

The co-hosts have developed a certain chemistry as they have hosted the past couple of years, and this year promises be even better than previous, especially when it comes to joking around with each other, which they already have started to do, perhaps rehearsing for the big day. "I was one of the first tours [Carrie] ever went out on, and we became friends then and have gotten great almost ever since," says Brad. "A couple of rough patches there for a little while. [Carrie laughs] It's fine. Let's not talk about that today."

"There were no rough patches that I knew of," Carrie responded, "unless you were mad at me and I didn't know that."

    "It's your dog," Brad explained.

"Oh, our dogs don't like each other!" Carrie agreed.
