One
of the great features of the Pelikan pen is that removing and installing the nibs
is a snap. It is now possible to have a favorite pen and several different
nibs for different purposes. For instructions on how to change a Pelikan nib, please see the bottom of this page. To see a comparison of Pelikan tip sizes against some other brands we carry, click here.
We offer these nibs below
at a price well below retail, along with our own guarantee. I feel that these are some of the highest quality nibs ever made.
1. The Pelikan M1000 nib, 18C, two-tone is
suited for tip customization. The body of this large nib
is somewhat flexible, however, because it is made of 18k gold,
it is not springy. It makes a lovely stub, italic or oblique writer.
WE HAVE ALL FACTORY NEW TIP SIZES IN STOCK Retail
Price: $280.00. Our price, factory
new: $224.00
2. The Pelikan M800, 14C, two-tone is
in many ways the ideal nib for customization. This nib is no longer available
from Pelikan. It is springy and of
good size and can be modified into a great flexible nib. The tip can also
be made oblique, stub or italic. Our new old stock of these
nibs is available in limited numbers: OM and O3B. These nibs are ideally suited
for customization to flexible left obliques, a point style common in Europe during
the 1930s and 40s).We have just received a very few of these nibs from Germany. Price: $288 before customization.
3. Pelikan M800, 18C, two-tone nib
is good for all kinds of point modifications, but limited as to
how flexible it can be made. WE HAVE ALL FACTORY NEW TIP SIZES IN
STOCK. List: $225.00
Our price, factory new:
$180.00
4. Pelikan M650 two-tone 18C nib unit.
This is an earlier nib with the larger circular logo and simpler
scrollwork (traditional imprint). It is correct in the earlier
Souverän M600 and M650 pens as well as the M730. We
are limited to EF, F, M, BB, OM, OB and OBB.
Our price, factory new:
$148.00
5. Pelikan M620/640 two-tone 18C nib
unit. This is the nib supplied with the cities series pens. It
has the more embellished imprint, just like the 14K version of
this size unit. This nib, when set deeply enough, also fits
the M400 and M200 series. WE HAVE ALL FACTORY NEW TIP SIZES
IN STOCK and believe we are the only ones able to offer the EF,
OM, OB, BB and OBB sizes as options in the Cities Series pens,
in addition to the standard F, M and B. Retail price $185.00
Our price, factory new:

7. Pelikan M250 single-tone 14C nib unit.
This was made for some export pens, such as the M400 "Brown
Tortoise". It was used in the gold plated model 730,
introduced in 1988 (set deeply enough this nib unit also
fits an M200, M250 & M400). It is a high quality nib, suitable
for various exotic tips and customization, especially extra flexibility.
We have EF, F, M, B & BB available. Retail
price: $100.00 Our price,
factory new:
$80.00
8. Pelikan M300 two-tone nib unit. This fits the M300 pen, is 18C or
14C (beyond our control) and very high quality. We

Our price, factory new:$80.00
9. This is a gold plated steel nib which was made for the M200 pen. (Please note that it is interchangeable
with the M400 and M600 nibs.) We are not very fond of steel nibs. They
do not hold up as well as gold and are less responsive in the hand. Sales of these
steel nibs are final. Reconditioned: $25.00
Below

The

wire tipped STUB nib. The picture is extremely wide angle
so that I could take in the point, the writing sample and the
pen.
The image above is an M800 14k nib with our customized extra-fine
and extra-flexible.

INSTRUCTIONS ON CHANGING PELIKAN NIBS
All
contemporary intentionally interchangeable nib units we know of (Pelikan, some
Aurora, Esterbrook, Parker {Sonnets, not 75s which slide in}, etc.), screw in
using the conventional right-hand thread. Using your fingers only (don't use any
type of tool), grip the nib close to the barrel, away from the point, and gently
but firmly unscrew. Do not grip the nib by the edges, since doing so could
misalign the tines. If the pen is not new, dried ink could conceivably
be "gluing" the current nib into the section and it may seem like it
won't unscrew.
In
that case, soak the nib end of the pen, up to about 3/4" over the edge of
the section, in household ammonia for ten minutes or so, and flush in and out
of the reservoir during the soaking, using the pen's converter or a de-soldering
bulb (available from Radio Shack), to clean out the filling system itself. This
should dissolve any dried ink. Dry off the nib/feed/section and try to
unscrew the nib again. You may want to use a soft cloth or tissue so that
your fingers don't get soiled. Some paper towels are coarse enough to scratch
the gold finish on fountain pens and nibs, therefore we recommend soft cloths
or soft tissues.
When
screwing in a nib, gently but firmly tighten into the section, and realize that
it will require about the same amount of force to remove the nib as was required
to tighten it. Do not over-tighten.
