Schalke have signed Spanish defender Sergio Escudero from Real Murcia for an undisclosed fee, making him the second Spanish player in their squad following the arrival of Raul.
The 20-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the Royal Blues, where he joins his compatriot Raul who arrived from Real Madrid last week.
"I am looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga," he said on the club's website. "I want to settle in here as quickly as possible. The main reason for my transfer to Schalke was, alongside the good perspectives, above all the engagement of the club's management towards me."
Escudero, who is already a fixture in the Spain U-21 side, arrives from the Spanish second division side and is intent on making the step up to the Bundesliga.
"I have come here to win titles and I want to do that preferably as a first-team regular," he said. "I will give it all I have got in the next few weeks to make the coach chose me in his starting XI."
