Epidemiological comments Fifty-three outbreaks were found between 6 and 12 May 2010. The total number of outbreaks is 76.
Since all the outbreaks occurred within the movement control areas established on 20 and 28 April, it is considered that the infection is managed to be contained in the limited areas.
The National Institute of Animal Health in Japan and the Institute for Animal Health in the United Kingdom (OIE/FAO Reference Laboratory) affirmed that the FMD virus is a closely-related strain with the viruses detected in the Republic of Korea and Hong Kong in 2010.
