Epidemiology

Source of the outbreak(s) or origin of infection
  • Unknown or inconclusive
Epidemiological comments Four more outbreaks were found between 24 and 28 April 2010.
Since the farm in Ebino was outside the movement control area established on 20 April, new movement restriction within 10 km around the farm has been implemented since 28 April.
Concerning the outbreak in swine, a member of the staff of the affected farm observed a breeding pig limping on 26 April 2010. A veterinarian of the farm found on 27 April suspicious cases which had using the nasal speculum vesicles and erosions as well as on the hooves. The National Institute of Animal Health affirmed on 28 April by PCR that the pigs were infected with FMD virus. The farm is located in the movement control area established on 20 April.
