Epidemiological comments Five more outbreaks were found between 21 and 23 April 2010.
All affected farms are located in the movement control area established on 20 April 2010.
The National Institute of Animal Health affirmed that the first reported case was infected with FMD virus serotype O by antigen detection ELISA on 22 April 2010.
This is the first outbreak of FMD in Japan since 2000.
