It stands to reason then, that the only thing to make matters worse is a French journalist dropping swear words live on ESPN. Unfortunately for the uber-professional Bob Ley, that happened on his watch, when Erik Bielderman, reporting for L'Equipe, provided coverage to the "World Cup Live" team.
Video of the interaction is below, but please remember two things. One, there are swear words, and two, the swear words are a direct quote of the confrontation between Anelk and Domenech.
Quick, paraphrased transcription after Ley's introduction:
It happened outside. Raymond Domenech ... asked [Nicholas Anelka] to answer to the tactical issue. And the response from the player was, uh, go to, uh, "go to [bleep] yourself, you son of a [bleep]."Ley, naturally, apologized immediately for the statement, as is typically of his professional behavior.
The good news for ESPN is that Bielderman was providing a direct quote, so it's unlikely anyone will get in any trouble. The bad news, on the other hand, is all France's.

The Irish won't be holding back on obscenities when they hear the good news about the French implosion.
would have been easier to hear if it wasn't recorded from some hillbilly's TV.................
why are they so worried about say S.O.B.? that is more the then usual saying that goes on in every home in almost any nation in almost any language. IF they had really been nasty I could understand that he was sanctioned, but he wasn't. Unless there were other phrases that he used that are not printable either in this article or in an audio interview then the caoch is a poor loser.
So some frog swore on TV. It's the end of the world as we know it! Good grief.
In case you haven't realized, it's 2010. The "F-bomb" isn't much of a bomb anymore. You hear rougher language in the corridors of middle schools and high schools these days. While no one was looking Ricky and Lucy got rid of the twin beds. Even when you can't hear the field talk it's pretty easy to read lips. The only big deal here is the one networks are making over unscripted comments that are given by honestly frustrated individuals.
Gary, the f-bomb is still a bomb. It just shows how incredibly stupid a person is when they use it. Intelligent people need not use such a
profane word to express themselves. As for the high school kids, their
parents must not be any smarter or they would have
taught them better. Garbage in, garbage out.
Your dead wrong Carol F-bomb isn't the bomb anymore and it should be said on TV I have no problem with swear words and I don't swear at people. FCC is useless so what that ESPN was quoting someone else and that a swear got through not that big of a deal. They should rename the 7 words you can say on TV. Down With Prudes Of America.
Actually Carol, most studies show that those who use profanity on a regular basis are either below average intelligence (because they lack the vocabulary to express themself) or noticeably above it (because they reject societal norms that limit vocabulary). Painting them all as "stupid" only demonstrates your own.
Swearing is a part of EVERY culture. Accept it, or go live alone in the wilderness somewhere.
So, Tiger Woods drops f-bombs all the time.
well it's sports...who cares..they offer nothing to society, but it's a multi-trillion dollar industry...!...they get busted for all things illegal and get traded, then it goes away for a while ,just to resurface later...how about some real aggression, how about they start coming out with shotguns and bombs and just start blowing each other up..?..and the stadiums...!
Do As I Say Not As I do if you don't care about sports then don't post on fan house. All your claims which are lies Upurs. Watching sports on TV offer a lot to society and that is a fact. Watching sports offers an excape for a few hours just like your favorite TV shows as well. I don't want to listen to doom & gloom 24/7.
carol, your insults-minus the f-bomb are as bad as the f-bomb you dont know the people you insult.how can you say such garbage?
Carol...what planet do you live on? The F bomb is a regular saying among men in sports...and your kids use it too..don't be so naive. F*ck is just a word...get over it...
What do they say over there
Soccer is a gentleman's sport played by thugs
and rugby is a thugs sport played by gentlemen
You people who get offended by four letter words need to grow up. What is the big deal?
Raise one hand if you like the French, raise two if you are French!
to; go bluespartyon..i could care less that you like sports...don't bug me about my opinion,go do something constructive,or go beat the wife,or kids, whatever gets it for you..but leave me alone..i have to change my settings so i don't have to hear bad fanmail.
You can't take the heat Upurs you post you need to take the heat or don't post I don't back down. since your claim is a lie and as I said before if you don't care then don't post on fan house your wrong and you know your wrong. Your an idiot & moron anyways.
Who gives a f**k.
