Transformation Means Profound Change,' Wolfowitz Tells NWC Grads

June 20, 2003 – Today's U.S. military leaders need to think outside the box to contend with massive changes occurring in the national security realm, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul D. Wolfowitz declared June 20 to Naval War College graduates. Military "transformation means profound change," Wolfowitz noted in his prepared remarks to 782 officers comprising the NWC Class of 2003, adding that that change means more than just leveraging technological advances.

June 9, 2003 ­ Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said today that the military is examining the stationing of U.S. troops worldwide. In addition to the recent decision to pull U.S. troops off the demilitarized zone separating the North and South Korea, other movements may occur in the future. "We are at varying stages in different parts of the globe in our thinking," Rumsfeld told reporters traveling with him for a series of European meetings.
