Got any higher resolution versions of these? I was thinking a couple of them might make nice wallpapers if they were 1280 x 1024 or so. Very nice pics…makes me want to take a well timed vacation to the upper/lower lattitudes. Thx

I don’t have any high resolution ones that are big enough for wallpapers but here are some good ones by http://www.topwalls.com

Living in Texas I don’t see much snow let alone the norther lights so I was curious, can you actually see all of the beautiful colors with the naked eye or is the light so dim it only really excites rods in the eye? I know astronomical objects have wonderful colors that only come out black and white if you see them through a telescope using your eyes (instead of a long exposure photo). Thanks!

[...] Well let me share my first experience of the Digg Effect. My post to digg was the Breathtaking Aurora Photos which generated a total of some 800+ diggs and Within twenty four hours 25k visitors visited my site. That’s a whopping number considering that my previous highest record of unique visitors was 800 in one day. My Adsense and TrafficMP revenue also increased 3-4 folds. But all that was just in a short time. It’s not easy to get to digg’s main page but i don’t think its hard either -Â just need to get the initial 20 diggs. The Digg Effect feeling is really good, very much like an overnight success feeling although only temporary. [...]

Simply spellbinding. Maybe it will not be possible for many of us to visit the gorgeous sites at the proper time of Aurora( Borealis? ). That, of course, does not deter us from enjoying the brilliant photographs

These pictures are amazing. One of my life goals is to see the Aurora Borealis in person. I wonder where the best place to see it from is, Alaska or Canada? And also what time of year? Maybe in the next 5 to 10 years I will go or maybe it will take me longer. Either way, I will go one day! Thanks for sharing.

[...] Jeff Hapeman experienced and took a photo of a long last green aurora when visiting the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan. Auroras are sparked by energy particles from the Sun impacting the magnetic environments around the Earth and are known to have many shapes and colors. For more pictures here is an older post of pictures on aurora. You can also view an educational video about auroras as well. You can view the green aurora in bigger size and resolution at NASA. [...]
