By threadbangerFabric Scissors, Fabric, Ruler, Pins, Pencil, 4 Buttons, Iron-On Interfacing, 2 Small Pieces of Velcro, Iron, Pattern download (available at Threadbanger.com and Burdastyle.com),
1. Measure and cut 2 pieces of 12" x 15" from your fabric
2. Using your ruler, mark your fabric every 2 inches, so that you can create a straight fold into your fabric
3. Iron these folds flat
4. Repeat these steps for the length of each piece of fabric
5. Once you've iron these folds, you'll want to sew them down. Measure 3/4" from the edge and mark with pencil or pin.
6. Line up the needle with your pin, and sew a straight line
7. Repeat these steps for each fold, until it looks like an accordion
8. Iron these folds flat. The flaps on each side should face away from eachother.
9.
Place the Front Cut Out on top of the piece with the pleats facing
left. With the Center of the front piece lining up with the edge of
your fabric and pin in place, and cut out.
10. For the second piece, just flip the pattern over, pin in place, and cut out.
11. Pin the two pieces together, back facing out and sew down the center front
12. Iron open the seam allowance.
13. Measure, Pin and Cut out the pattern for your Placket.
14. Fold the seam allowance of 5/8" and iron -- length-wise only.
15. The Placket goes on the front of the bib, to cover the front seam, so that it looks like a real button line.
16. Pin in place, and stitch either side of the Placket down.
17. Cut out pattern number 3 (this is your collar) from your fabric and your interfacing, front and back.
18. Iron on the interfacing to the outside pieces, glue face down against the fabric.
19. Place the inside collar piece on top of the outside collar piece, right sides together.
20. Sew once around the top and sides of the collar leaving a 5/8" seam allowance.
21.
Trim the seam allowance, so the one side is slightly shorter than the
other (this makes turning it out is easier)... trim the corners.
22. Press these pieces, and the inside seam open to make the edge sharp.
23. Cut a Buyer's strip into the fabric. Use your ruler to measure a 45 degree angle 1.5 inches from the edge of the fabric.
24. This strip will wrap once around the bib
25. Pin the right sides of each piece together and sew 1/4" in from the edge of the bib.
26. Flip the excess fabric over the edge of the bib, and fold it to the back, pressing and open the seam as taut as possible.
27. Top stitch the edge on the front to finish the edge all the way around.
28.
Place the outside of the collar (the side with the interface ironed on)
on top of the bib, pinning it on starting with the center front, sew it
in place with a seam allowance of 5/8".
29. Trim the seam allowance, fold over the collar and finish the inside.
30. Trim the seam allowance, flip the collar and press the seam.
31.
Flip to the other side and turn the inside of the collar up (press
flat) and then fold into the piece itself all the way to the end, and
sew with a top stitch
32. Repeat on the right side
33. Attach the velcro on each end of the collar so that it closes correctly around your neck.
34. Attach the buttons
