A LIMESTONE FIGURE OF A BODHISATTVA
TANG DYNASTY (618-907)
Carved in high relief from the block of stone that forms the backing and the base, the figure shown standing atop a recumbent lion, with right hand held in front of the body and the left arm pendent at the side, wearing a shawl, long beaded necklaces and a dhoti folded over at the waist, the rounded face carved with small features, and the hair drawn up into a topknot behind a small crown
