Windows Explorer copy/paste/drag broken
-
I am using Windows XP on my work machine. For the last month or so I have not been able to copy/paste files or even drag/drop files in Windows Explorer. When I try to drag a file to another folder, I get the error:
Drag: explorer.exe - Application error
The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "written".
If I try to copy/paste a file, I get the same error when I try to paste, except without the "Drag:" at the beginning. The "0x00000000" is literal, those zeroes are not placeholders for other values.
This also happens when I try to rename or delete a folder.
I have done a lot of searching and could not find a solution for this. chkdsk did not find any errors. Copy/paste functions fine within applications, and I can make the file movements via the command line with no problem.
