Biography

Winners of the 2005 Parkhouse Award and of the 2004 South East Music Scheme, DIMENSION is a unique violin, cello and piano trio whose aim is to perform repertoire which is not restricted solely to the piano trio medium. In addition to presenting solos, duos and trios, DIMENSION collaborates with other musicians, often becoming a quartet or quintet. Guest artists appearing to date include Michael Collins, Tasmin Little, Gervase de Peyer, Julian Rachlin, Rachel Roberts, Radovan Vlatkovich and members of the Belcea and Alban Berg String Quartets.

Hyung-ki, Rafal and Thomas studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School which enabled them to perform both as soloists and as chamber partners with Lord Menuhin. Hyung-ki then studied at the Manhattan School of Music later winning the Grand Prize at the Stravinsky International Piano Competition. Rafal won the BBC Young Musician of the Year in 1996, leads Ensemble Modern and is guest leader of the Munich Chamber Orchestra. Thomas has the rare distinction of success with both the Young Concert Artists, USA and YCAT, UK. He is a professor at the Menuhin School and the Royal College of Music.

DIMENSION have just given performances at the Warsaw Beethoven Festival with Michael Collins. They will be performing Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the RPO in the autumn and will appear at the Bastad Festival, Sweden, in summer 2009.
