The man was initially arrested in January on suspicion of conducting lewd acts on his students but released later without being indicted, according to the sources.

The man, who has lived in Japan and taught English mainly to primary school students for decades, allegedly took his students home with an offer of private English lessons, the sources said.

it always starts with an offer of private English lessons.....

Unfortunately, most or many ie 95%+ of these people in Japan are here for similar reason.

They are the fetish jins and they lack the wisdom.

I personally know two of these people who come to Japan very early and give up possibility of good career elsewhere all because of the fetish.

They lack the Wisdom and they Have the Fetish.

F*ck them. They like 99% of foreigners in Japan lack the Wisdom.

UNCLE RICE WISDOM FOR YOU MR ALT JINS

I'm not surprised by any of this - Japan attracts some really bad gaijin. I'm disturbed at some of the Gary Glitter types I've run into in Japan.

The authorities in Japan often turn a blind eye to all but the worst cases. That this has reached the courts suggests that it must be truly horrific. I shudder to think of how many lives this sod had ruined.

He's come to Japan because he probably would not get away with it in his home country. Let's give him his trial and hope they lock him away for good.

I'm sure some of the henna gaijin here will be keen to support this poor old fellow and will no doubt rail against the horrid Japanese justice system and how it discriminates against gaijin.....

It's 2am and I'm angry

He most likely got PR so that means Japanese prison time.

Having molested several dozen kids, I think deportation is not an issue here, even if he did not have permanent residence. This man deserves to serve time in jail, or better still, to die there - anything else would be totally unjust. The Japanese government can deport him AFTER he has served his sentence.

Whooops, lets give him his trial first and not presume that he is guilty before this hits the courts. Grubby animal.

It also suggests that the guy wasn't Japanese, so it's fair game for air time. Has anyone noticed much coverage in the Japanese papers or T.V?

If so, I can imagine that English teachers are losing their young students in droves as the parents panic.

A female teacher in Tokyo was found to have been sleeping with the high school boys after taking them back to her house for "private lessons." Since this was reported last week, the teacher in question has had her private students increase by 1000%.

The Japanese police officer in charge of the case gave the following comment, "I want to study English."

And I used to teach at a boys` school too!
I promise this wasn`t me - really it wasn`t!!

Even though some of the high school 3rd graders (17-18 years old) were quite tasty - I maintained a professional demeanor at all times .......

I have said it before and I am going to say it again
ANYONE who is contact with children through their job (teachers, daycare workers, counsellors) should get a police record clearance....It is done in Australia, should be done here.

Sure - but then who would give the police their clearance?

Good that they got this guy - and too bad that it took so long to do so.

The dirty buggers can be quite cunning and can find ways around that by doing deed-poll name changes, taking on their partners names etc.

It's important to know that many of the perpetrators were once victims. But that does not earn them any sympathy in my book! How can the vicious cycle of sex abuse be stopped? I really don't know.
