I've been using Windows 7 RC and have been having problems with the folder view settings. Whatever settings you use are quickly lost. I was hoping that the RTM would correct this problem but unfortunately it hasn't.
I’ve tried various hacks suggested for vista with no success. Is anybody else experiencing this problem or has anybody any suggestions?

I'm still having the same problems. The main one is the size a folder opens. Regardless of what size I set it, when it next opens it's the size of the last window used and not how I set it.
You've hit on just one of the many, many reasons I'm sticking with XP until what I consider to be extremely annoying bugs are "fixed".
How 'bout when you open Windows Explorer, click on the > in front of the folder, then click on the file and it opens in a new window and when you try to get back to where you were, it doesn't happen; you're back to the root of the C:\ drive instead of Explorer? Whereas with XP, whatever you click on, it opens in the right pane, not another window, and you can view it any way you want.
After XP came out, tips and tricks and tweaks started showing up immediately. W7 has been out in one form or another since December 2008 with RC's since May 2009. So where are all the tips, tricks, and tweaks? I've been asking questions about 7 since I DL'ed it in July and I've been running it almost daily and I'm still where I was in July. And, I've found most Vista tweaks don't work with 7.
IMNSHO, stick with XP and let everyone else go through the brain damage. Then when you need to replace your OS, all the things that bug us "may" have been solved.

Hu? Don't set Open each folder in its own window then?
Standard explorer doesn't behave like you describe.
It doesn't make any difference what I've got it set to, it still opens in a separate window and when I hit the back arrow, I'm at the root of the C:\ drive, not where I was.
Example: I've got the C: drive open; I click on Program Files; I click the > arrow next to Microsoft Games; I click on Chess; the Chess folder opens in another window; when I click the < arrow to return to Program Files, I'm back at the root of the C: drive in another window, not Program Files nor the expanded C:.
Like I said, it makes no difference what I've got checked (Own Window or Same Window). I've even tried unchecking "Launch folder windows in a separate process", to no avail.

You have to pay for a tweak? Does that make sense to anyone?
And like I said, standard explorer doesn't behave like you describe.

hmmm i'm runing win7 RC and my explorer doesn't do this but i have set it to use by way of folder options to a: (General Tab) open folders in the same window and b: (View Tab) Launch folder windows in a seperate process
as for window size if you want win7 to remember it then hold the ctrl key down when clicking the X to close the window
