I used Herbal Essences (Clairol)'s Nicen' easy in 114A Natural Lightest Golden Brown.

My hair was normal Asian dark brown hair.. and I just wanted to go a few shades lighter.
I didn't want to damage my hair too much, so I avoided bleaching.

The color is still dark, but its brown. I like it, because it doesn't make me look as pale, haha.

More after pictures and before pictures are on my blog that is linked in my signature.

so im thinking of dying my hair but i was looking for the type that fades and isnt that bad for your hair. any recommendations? how long will palty last?

my hair is black atm but im aiming for something with a tint of red

much appreciated! thanks
Searesrayne
^ use a semi permanent dye (on the box with say lvl 2) The thing with Palty it has some peroxide so it won't completey fade out and may out a funky color when it's all washed out D=

Or you could use a permanent dye like Feria Loreal of the dark RED colors, since your hair is dark it will come out with tint of red.

(Note: if your hair is dyed black nothing will show up on it, if virgin hair ignore this note LOL)

OMGGG so I finally dyed my hair darker. I haven't had it like this since.. freshman year of high school? I've always had it ligh brown, and I kinda regret it now (yes, I regret it very much. It was a hideous orange) I tried dying it twice now in the time span of 4 months to a darker color, but it never lasts, the orange/brown tint will always come back. But this time most of it's covered up.. minus the little splotches of light brown =____= pictures will be up tonight

Anyways, since someone wanted to see this and I put it together, might as well post it here.
WORTH IT?: - si
Natural Hair type:
- pretty fine, a bit wavy if I let it dry by itself, long
Hair History: -
- I actually counted, so 7 times in the past 5 years, both salon and box.
Hair color Before/Hair color After:

apologies for how gross my hair looks, first picture I hadn't washed in like 2 days because I think I heard you shouldn't wash it before dying? xD
Bleach?:
no
Hair Dye:
Loreal Excellence Creme or w/e it's called in Medium Natural Blond
Price: maybe around $7?
Changes:
My hair actually feels nicer than before. I don't know if that's because of the dye job, or because I cut my hair right after, or because I switched hair routines. Maybe a combo of all 3? Anyways, no real damage, I don't think. My hair feels fantastic.
Description:
Dyed my roots first, that took maybe 20-30 minutes, then covered the rest of my hair. It ended up staying on for WAY longer than I was planning, probably close to 2 hours because I had to help my mom dye her hair right after and couldn't exactly hop in the shower halfway through her hair x_x
Also, there doesn't look like that much of a difference between the two side pictures, but trust me, there's a noticeable difference xD
Atmosphere.
Has anyone tried Dark Burgundy Hair color with long hair and cover the front head with bangs?? Trying to think of getting dark burgundy hair color. Medium or Dark would be nice! My hair is black right now, so I don't need to color it white to get the Dark Burgundy hair right?

hello!
i wanted to ask something, hope you guys can help!
i went to highlight my virgin black hair brown today at the salon, and it turned out quite horrible, the brown looked extremely orangey. (i think it was cause he left it in for TOO LONG- 1hour 20 mins)
is it possible to salvage my hair by dyeing it another colour or something?

it looks like this (it's about one shade lighter in real life):

okay, so i dyed my hair with clairol 120A natural golden dark brown on virgin brownishblack hair. and the colour isnt showing up unless its under really bright light or flash...=.= im just gonna try palty next time D=

Have you tried using a protein filler before coloring? It sounds like your hair is very porous from all of the dying and that's why the color never seems to "stick."

I disagree with this poster, you are never going to achieve that shade of vibrant red with Palty. With the first hair color, it might be possible to achieve that color without bleaching it first, find a bright shade of red that's made for dark hair, it will come out darker than on the box, most likely. With the second hair color, you will need to bleach it first, to a light brown, dark blonde shade, and then use a dye that is the shade that you want. Keep in mind that this color might be hard to maintain for long, and it will most likely fade into an orange-ish color.
Searesrayne
^ The question to get a lighter color from dark hair has been asked multiply times... but anyways
Most dyes (perm dyes)have some kinda of lifting property in them, but you can't just buy blonde hair dye and then color it red...well you can but that blonde hair dye has to be the bleaching kit kind >_> dry.gif. You can always use bleach to lift some hair color off, perhaps 5-10 mins and then rinse and dye the color you want ohmy.gif

wtf is this "white people brands" I kinda find this offensive, Those dyes are meant for anyone, if you look at the boxes the models aren't all white o_O...

With palty you won't achieve the bright/rich of an auburn.

Oh FERIA LOREAL is dye that's great for dark colored hair lifts at least 2 shades of color, but still very dark when used on dark hair..someone suggesting dying it over and over but dying your hair over and over is damging (each time you dye it your lifting some color out too)
SweetnSour012
I went from black hair color to deep burgundy brown. It looks more brown indoors and it's more red/burgundy outdoors..depends on the lighting..

You can try dying over it with a shade that has "ash" or "cool" in the name. Or getting a violet toner. Your hair is "orange" because the blue shade is the easiest to lift from hair, often leaving behind the red and golden tones.

I really think Palty just has a higher amount of peroxide, so it lifts your color better. You said you chose a dark brown, I think you just didn't pick a light enough shade. Even if you have light hair and you're going darker, box dyes almost always show up darker. I read one review of someone who dyed their hair from blonde to brown and she warned to always go one shade lighter than what you want.

No, as I said before, regular box dyes can lift your hair up to 4 levels (though I think less, usually). If your hair is really dark (like a level 2) and you want to go really really light, like level 7, you would have to take it in steps if you don't want to bleach it. I'd put your current hair at like 2 or 3, light brown is usually put around level 6 from the charts I see...I think you might be able to get close with a light blonde dye.

I saw someone get pretty much that color using Palty Honey Brown. And then she used Vanilla Beige and said her hair literally came out orange (it looked the same in the two videos almost, but I'll trust what she said).
I think you can get it using a light golden blonde, that'll keep the warm tones in your hair and give you that brassy color (which a lot of people don't seem to like and I dunno why, I see some people pull it off really well).

If you would like to achieve that color, you will need to bleach your hair and dye it.
Using bleach can be somewhat difficult so I suggest going to an Asian hair salon and asking them to dye it that color and they will take care of it.

When I had that color hair, they bleached it once then dyed it.

^ easy thing to get is box BLEACHING KIT, It has developer and bleaching powder...

Or you could get it separate at beauty shop like Sally's beauty... You get the Bleaching powder (sold in packets or a tub) and then you get a developer(it's the cream your mix with the powder) The bleaching powder will suggest what number(strength) of developer cream you will need (normally it's 20-40, depending how light you want it)

for the box stuff, it either has to say LIGHTENING cream OR BLEACHING KIT, DO NOT BUY JUST ANY BLONDE BOX DYE >_> dry.gif it won't lift much...

I think the black looks really good! I mixed the dye and developer, applied them onto my extensions and wrapped them in foil for about 45 minutes...is there something I did wrong? Help would be greatly appreciated smile.gif

The hair color posted also looks cooler in tone...I'd say dark blonde or light brown, but I'd say go with a cool or ash shade. The warm or golden shades will leave you with a lot of red in your hair, making your hair look redder/orange.

I seriously almost cried for you, but I saw your username...if you're a guy, that makes it so much easier on my mind. laugh.gif
You'll have to bleach almost all of the color out of your hair (ugh, think white) if you want your hair to look pastel pink, I think. Chances are good it'll be super damaging and your hair will feel like straw. But if your a guy with short hair, it'll grow out fast at least. I'm not even sure if you can get it light enough yourself (and not professionally).
Jet black is easy though. Just keep in mind that's like the color of no return. If you want that color out, you'll probably have to professionally strip it out (but as I said, if you're a guy, who really cares, your hair will grow out in like a month).

Bear with me because I have absolutely no extension experience. Are you hair extensions real hair (what poster above said), and have they been treated before? Are they, by any chance, a dyed black color (not naturally black)? That would explain it also if so...color lifts much more easily off of virgin black hair than it does dyed black hair.

It really depends on how fast your hair grows and how big a contrast your dyed hair color is compared to your natural color. For example, if your dyed hair is blonde then it would be obvious really quickly that your roots are showing if your natural hair color is black. Brown, on the other hand, would be more forgiving and you can let your roots show for a while because it blends well with your natural hair color.
