Does anyone have pictures of black hair with dark auburn-ish highlights? I'm looking for something subtle, like peekaboo highlights and not something too extreme. Thanks smile.gif
x_Pres_Kitten_x
My natural hair colour is a medium brown but over the years I've dyed it SO many times. I advise you to always get it done at the salon!

Tip: Be realistic; If you want to go lighter, trust me... Take it in STEPS. If you have black hair, opt for a dark brown/medium brown. Then go onto light brown. STAY CLEAR OF BLEACHING! It will fry your hair and leave it looking coppery and orange!

When dying your hair a lighter color, do you also dye your eyebrows? Like if you have naturally black hair & eyebrows and you die it Palty Maple Doughnut, do you dye your eyebrows with the same hair dye? Cuz it would like kinda weird when your eyebrows are black with light hair color. happy.gif

Also, how long does the hair color stay? (If you use garnier color shield shampoo?)

you technically can but you're not supposed to because if that stuff gets into your eye it can cause eye damage I use facial hair dye stuff which works just as well but its only for like your arms/legs/face kinda deal.

Don't dye your eyebrows with the hairdye yourself, instead opt for bleach creme used to lighten facial hair, arm hair, etc. The ones that I know of are Sally Hansen Creme Hair Bleach, and Jolen Bleach Creme. There are some YouTube tutorials if you want to learn more. And be VERY careful not to get it near your eye, you can go blind.

hey guys I got a couple of Question.

So I'm planning to dye my hair soon for the first time.
My friend suggested me to try reddish brown.
But I don't really know what that looks like lol :<

I was wondering if anyone has any picture of a reddish brown hair??

while I'm here... I should ask for advice too tongue.gif
So my hair is naturally black color.....
I don't really want an extreme color, like blonde for example...... but I just want to make it look lighter/brighter.
So what do you guys think I should try?
Reddish brown sounds quite interesting, so I thought i might try it.. but I would like some other opinions too if thats possible biggrin.gif

oh and do I need to bleach my hair first? what's the purpose of Bleaching your hair??

thanks.

WORTH IT?: - definitely
Natural Hair type: straight/long
Hair History: - colored numerous times.
Hair color Before: - light brown all over with dirty blonde highlights
Hair color After: - intense auburn
Bleach?: - no but had bleached highlights before
Hair Dye: - used 2 boxes of Garnier 100% Vibrant Colors- Bright Auburn Brown 562 then a day later i came back with 1 box of Intense Auburn 660 (same brand) for permanent toning
Price: - $ -all together around $23
Changes: color is definitely noticeable
Texture change- a bit rough but daily use of a conditioner helps a lot smile.gif
Description: - after i was done applying the product, i just wrapped my hair into a bun and clipped it with a plastic clipper i left it about 10mins LONGER than the recommended time
Comments: - my mom is a hairdresser and owns her own hair salon but she is always busy and rarely has time to do my hair. Other than the professional hair color product she uses, Garnier 100% Vibrant Colors is the only product/brand i trust and absolutely LOVE it. Also the conditioner that comes with it in every box is WONDERFUL..i love the smell and it definitely conditions your hair and leaves it smooth and silky

BEFORE: with Highlights

Afterwards i was not too happy with the results because it was WAY too yellow so i used a semi-permanent red toner to tone down the yellowness

AFTER: with semi permanent red toner

After a couple of washed the red from the toner was gone and my hair was light brown/caramel/dirty blonde

AFTER: semi permanent red toner gone

wasn't too happy with really light hair so then i used Garnier

AFTER: Garnier 100% Vibrant Colors 562 and 660

hope this helped! smile.gif

Thank you very much!

With my past experiences with the product, I do think it will show on your hair just not as intense. I would recommend just using 660 because it has more red pigments than the 562 and you wouldn't have to come back for toning..i only had to do it to blend in my highlights.

If you use 660, the overall shade of your hair will be a bit DARKER but when sunlight or any kind of light hits your hair, you can definitely see the red tone.

hope this helped!

before i start, i'm going to say i totally suck at taking pics, so please forgive me. i did one of these post before, but it was in another topic cuz the person had ask about hair dye and roots and how to do it etc..

WORTH IT?: yeah
Natural Hair type: medium straight hair
Hair History: dyed it many times before, this was just to touch up roots and make my hair a lighter color overall cuz it was getting dull
Hair color Before:

ugly black root greasy hair lol please forgive my dirty greasy hair, i took this pic right before i did the dye process, and i had to wait like a day or 2 for my natural hair oil to come out lol
Hair color After:

took this right after i came out of shower after hair dye process, so hair still a bit wet
Bleach?: no
Hair Dye:

106A natural Dark Neutral Blonde
Price: i think $8...?
Changes: black roots gone, a bit lighter shade, no more dull hair. there is some damage i have to admit, but it's partially due to me because i've done this many many times, and i also use a hair straightener frequently. but not dramatic damage. but they do provide this deep conditioning thing that did help make my hair smooth and shiny
Description: did roots first, left roots longer than the rest of hair for 15 mins, total wait time for root: 45 mins, rest of hair 30 mins
Comments: good overall, i do this a lot, just a routine root and dull hair touchup, thoughi i would contribute

How damaging is hair dying? I remember I did 3 times but I was like 8-11. Lmao I don't remember T_T!!

How damaging is bleaching for a platinum blonde color? Like it's barely yellow.

And how damaging is it to keep doing root touch-ups, and also touch-ups that require bleach??

I'm such a hair-dying noob. ):
Sigh tired of my black plain hair but don't know if I'm ready for all the taking care of..
Searesrayne
^ let's say bleaching in general is extremely damaging... it's also hard matching roots (if your doing it yourself) to the your hair.. that it would look really bad and you end up dying your hair multiply times.

When you just use dye the darker the color the less damaging it is (black is least, and a much darker color is more damaging.)

I really like your before color. This is kind of random, but how did you get your hair to be such an ashy tone of dark blonde/brown? Is it that color in real life or is it just the camera?

I tried getting my hair that color and it just turned out sorta orangey, which washes me out. Did you use a toner?
ShineyLipgloss

Used Garnier to bleach my hair first and it worked...but that didn't really suit me so I used a Garnier 10minutes toner to get it a little darker again.

I'm pretty noob on this so yeahh, haha.
I'm planning on dying/streaking my bangs next week & I was wondering which brand had the best (if not best, overall good) bleach?
I'm trying to get my hair somewhat like this:

(random picture I found)
CherryColors
I dyed my hair again...
I wanted to just color my roots back to blond, but it turned out WHITE..

So I decided to go for a reddish color..

Comparison picture:

I can't even remember which color I used.. hmm...

I don't like it.

Question: So I've dyed my hair multiple times, to the point where my hair is really thin & dead.
Bad, I know. Major dye job I did was in April, my hair was dyed a really light brown. It faded to an ugly orange.
I tried dying it darker in July, but it only lasted about a week, and faded back to the ugly orange.
I really want to get back to a really dark brown. Should I risk damaging my hair again and like, leave it in longer?
Or should I just wait more? The orange is sooo bad =____= What do I do? & what dark brown dye do you suggest?
twenty4-7
I'm planning to bleach my hair a platinum blonde [think Lee Hong Ki or G Dragon?] and my brother just recently bought Gatsby's Ex-Hi Bleach for me. I looked up some pictures and checked the product on the site and in the photo, the guy's hair is really yellow, like Pikachu yellow. Does it all depend on how long you leave it in? And do you suggest I do this at home or go into a salon?

WORTH IT?: - yea
Natural Hair type:
- not as fine but not coarse either
- straight
- long
Hair History:
-bleached the underside

Price: cheap, did it at home
Changes:
- no damages or texture changes at that time, i did it 8 months ago, but the split ends are starting D':
Description: - wrapped hair in tin foil and waited 30 min
Comments: originally, my hair wasn't so layered, so you couldnt really see the bleached hair, but then i got a mullet cut which made my layers shorter.

but now i tried to dye the bleached part red, and the color faded back to light brown/copperish in a matter of 4 days. i saw the red dye go down the drain in the shower ._. any advice?
