^ + im also wanting to streak my hair using tinfoil .
Does using regular tinfoil for food work ?
or do I have to get a specific type of foil for the hair ? :\

any type of foil will work

For those who dyed their hair black what brand would your recommend? The easy to get ones like Loreal or something. I want to dye it ot black but I don't want it to look fake.. I have a friend who dyed it black and it looks like a wig so I was wondering which brand would be best to get the most natural looking black?
Searesrayne
For foil it depends how light you want it.. if you want it super blonde use the foil for hair because if you use regular foil it turns into a gross ace color LOL

A natural black you could use the Loreal brand BUT don't use Feria's Starry nights(blue black color) biggrin.gif

So I dyed my hair with Palty Milk Tea Brown or something I forget about 3 months ago..my roots have grown out... Can I redye it with the same color to set the roots the same color or would it not show up? Would i need to dye it lighter than what my hair is now? Basically I want to have a uniform color but am not sure how to achieve this since I dyed my hair 2 times with Palty (2 different colors)... Would Palty work again or would a different dye brand work better?

Sorry for al the questions. Thanks happy.gif

^ ohh i see ohmy.gif i forgot to mention on my previous post that half of my hair is a light-ish brown (it's turning goldish, since it was bleached before) so should i still start with ends? or will it come out pretty even either way, since half of my hair is virgin and the other half is light brown? sorry if i'm not making sense sweatingbullets.gif

i'm trying out loreal preference light ash brown... i was getting scared to buy a shade lighter because i was worried that it would turn out really uneven blink.gif

That's tricky, the hair that has been bleached/is lighter will definitely take to the dye more quickly than your virgin hair. In this case I would probably try to apply it to the virgin hair first since it should take longest then apply to the ends and roots... HOWEVER this is just speculation from past experience and can be hard to pull off without getting stripes. MY BEST ADVICE TO YOU is to do many test batches. Many dyes recommend this anyway and since after the dye is mixed it can usually stay well for up to 48 hrs [must keep it in a controlled temperature room, if it is too hot it will foam up and explode I've seen this happen with bleach... it literally burst the top off and dye went shooting up in the air D: lmfao, I wouldn't recommend letting it get too cold either though] But really you won't need 2 days to do test batches lol. What i would do is snip off some of your hair from the middle/bottom where it'll be easy to hide. don't freak out you only need a little bit. [Tip: I have really thick hair that inevitably comes out when brushing/combing, if you do too just take some hair out of your brush, make sure there is no gel/hairspray on it though] And then try out a bunch of different times of leaving the dye on these batches to see what works best. Lol i hope this makes sense to you.. it's kind of difficult to explain lol but it really helps so you know EXACTLY what colour you'll get and how long to leave it in for.

I have a questionnn ! : After dying hair, what are the steps after it ?
like, do you just shampoo it? or just use conditioner ?
because i only have those 2 in 1 shampoo&conditioners at home. is it okay to wash my hair after using those cause i don't want my colour to fade out >_>
im using palty sparkling bleach and it doesn't come with any shampoo except the oil thing .. >_>

Yes you shampoo your hair as usual however if you don't want the color to fade a lot I'd use lukewarm/cold water. But if you do that you'll get a lot more color running onto pillows/clothes etc. As for conditioning, if the dye doesn't come with a leave-in/deep conditioner I would go out and buy one before dying your hair. Then after you shower+shampoo [regular condition here if you want] then towel dry your hair and add the leave-in/deep conditioner to dry hair. The hair will absorb more of the product this way, thus resulting in a deeper condition and healthier looking and feeling hair. smile.gif

I would recommend using actual hair foil... it is not 100% necessary but just safer and easier all around. it's thinner so it's easier to handle and fold Also like the other soompier said some regular kitchen foils have adverse reactions with chemical dye which results in discoloration of the hair and that is all around no fun. Good luck!

Store brand dyes I hear good things about L'Oreal. But personally I like Garnier 100%[fades fast..ish], also I am fairly fond of the Revlon Colorsilk line. They are really great for the price, they sell around here for like 2-3 bucks, that's just insane. Also dyes work for everyone differently, I felt that I got natural looking results from it and so did my sister, for me though it did fade.. a little fast?[My hair grows quickly so it's hard to tell really.. plus it's still really coloured toward the ends.] But for my sister it looks like she just dyed it yesterday and we both did it the same time like... 3 months ago? Probably longer than that. I'm so jealous because it looks like... really great. mine's already back to a reddish brown colour.. I feel like though in hindsight this dye left my hair a little dull looking after it faded. But like I said it's fantastic for my sis T^T lmfao.

Hope that helps XD

i tried peek a boos. bad picture. I'll post a new one soon.

Does thin hair dye easier than thick hair? o_O Logically, it would, right?

I have a feeling that my hair would be very easy to dye.
But I may be wrong ahha~

Question!

Say you're like me and you've dyed your hair numerous times, hwo do you go from dying your hair from a DYED unnatural darker colour to a lighter? without bleaching.

and has anyone every tried hair colour remover? when you use it, and you had natural black hair which was dyed light brown, then red, then dark, what colour does your hair end up? the lightest shade youve ever had your hair or your natural colour ? thanks a lot for anyone who reads this!!
xo_unknown_xo
im not sure what you were tryin to say in the first ques and the sec ques .... but if you mean redying your hair wit a diff colour, than that shouldnt be a prob ..... i think it would still work, i mean it works for me.

I dyed my virgin black hair using blonde dye and it's come out an alright brown. However the top is more light brown and underneath and bottom are a darker brown. Although on the outside it's not as noticable and more gradual darker change from top, but when you look underneath you can see where it's lighter and darker >_< Should i just redye the darker bits? or all of it again? I mean, the lighter parts are blotchy too, darker patches underneath D; Also, if i do redye, how long should it be? I'm scared it'll have even more blotches/patches than before. lol

It says on the box that dying over light brown hair isn't recommended, but I did it anyways. :|

I used Clairol Nice 'N Easy 106 smile.gif

and no I didn't bleach because i didn't want to over damage my hair or anything.

You can dye your hair brown without bleaching, like with asian dye because it specifically for asians. Like Palty, the japanese brand dye. There's a thread on it; Palty Thread :]

If you haven't already used the ash blonde I would try using a toner, this will help eliminate the yellow/orange brassy tone that black/black brown hair usually get's after bleaching. If I recall correctly using a blue toner will make the hair more natural blonde looking and using a lavender toner will make it more platinum/silver. That should help the ash blonde dye more true to the swatches on the box because if your hair is orangey it's a safe bet that it will indeed distort the effect of the ash blonde dye.

Here I'd reccomend trying a toner too, to help even it out, then I would find a NO AMMONIA colour RINSE in the brown shade that I want to keep, prob just a TAD darker actually. And hope that should work as a quick/cost effective remedy.

Questions:
This is my current hair color, I dyed it dark brown about 6 weeks ago but the results didn't come through.

I want to dye my hair this color but I don't know whether I should use bleach before hand since light color never shows on my hair. I've never tried bleach before so I'm not sure how many times I should bleach my hair before dyeing. Any brand suggestions? Thanks.

Question.

I tested a Palty hair dye the other day for any allergies, no allergies came up at all.

However, now that I opened the colour creme tube just to use a little portion of it, the rim of it has oxidised and turned brown.

Now I'm worried that the entire colour creme tube would oxidise and become ineffective by the time I plan to use it.
Would this happen? Because I plan to use the dye sometime in October.

Or is it best if I use the dye soon?

I dunno about Palty, but the dye I use from the drugstore usually says you have to use it as soon as you mixed the color and the cream (?)

if you want it that light you will have to bleach your hair.
For bleaching- Super Blonde. It's about $9 at the drugstore.
Once should be plenty.

I haven't mixed all of the stuff.
They're still seperate.
Just squeezed out some of the creme from the tube into a bowl to test, not all of it.

So it's technically...a used tube of creme?

I've used it a couple of times and bleaching is better...it smells like....hell o.O (sulfuric? lol) and at least in *my* experience I feel like it did more damage than bleach with poorer results V.V

question for you guys! I have a question relating to roots and dye.

So, I dyed my hair like when school let out kinda so like last week of June but like for the first week or even two weeks after I dyed it, nobody could tell that I dyed it (the color was chocolate brown) but then afterwards, like the third week or so, people were like "Oh I can kinda see it now!!" And now when people see me, they're like "It's completely visible!" So if I buy the same dye and do it only to my roots, won't the color still not show like it did to my normal hair, until later? And by then, won't my other hair color turn lighter too? (it seems to be getting slightly lighter every week!) ??

Just dyed my hair again yesterday. Basically, I'd had it brown for about a year, then I dyed it black in early July. But...I really hated it, so I went to my friend's really posh salon in Apgujeong (he does the hair of like, Kim Taehee, DBSK, SNSD, etc). He stripped the color and then I got a golden brown put over top. It took 3 hours and 5 dye jobs. Er, had I been a regular customer, it would have cost me about 450,000 won, but because I was a friend, it was only 200,000!!! *huge sigh of relief because, contrary to many of my friends' thoughts about me, I am just a po English teacher*

So here's the brown, then the heavy black, and now the golden brown. Er, the second to last picture is way too vivid--I think I had the vivid setting on.

I have a question. I dyed my hair a while back a kind of auburn colour. Now I want to dye my hair a sort of ashy light brown. If I dye my hair will some of the red still show through? And won't my roots be a different colour from the rest of my hair if I did dye it?

KirbyKrazy
Question. I've dyed my hair twice, but because i started when my hair was virgin, there's very little color change. Now I want to bleach it. Is it okay to bleach dyed hair? I dont want to damage my hair too much. It's already pretty dry and dead, even though I use good conditioners.
Searesrayne
Yell ~~ if your using and ashy color on auburn it'll prolly just neutralize your hair, and your hair will most likely be different colors on your roots because the dyed part slightly removed the darkness of the hair so it would come out darker than your dye parts

KirbyKrazy~~If you described it as "already pretty dry and dead" I wouldn't bleach it ohmy.gif

I used palty alot before, and it's just a one time use box. You only use it once. Since it had already touched oxygen it wont work because it deactivates within tube u open. I dont think I'm making anysense but..... Its like opening.....PEPSI or any fizzy soda. It wont be fizzy anymore once you open it and store it. so no good there.

I love the 2nd color! It's such a lovely shade. How or what did you use to get that one, or was It a salon job? P.S. This might sound a bit odd but you're extremely beautiful especially in the 3rd (You look so elegant.)

P.S.S. Your hair looks soooo healthy, what products do you use?

I need to strip my hair. None of the dyes work because I had my hair dyed black a year ago, so only half of my head actually turns out brown. Anyone have any tips for at home stripping? What products should I use?

if you've dyed your hair black and want to lighten up the shade, then you have no choice but to go to a professional. stripping your hair color, removing it, or bleaching def. needs to be left to the pros if you're doing your whole entire head. and you should really look into someone who's known for dying hair, since it's a big deal when it comes to stripping your hair color. a noob could totally kill your hair--trust me, i speak from experience. but the best way (if you want to keep your hair healthy) is to just wait for the black hair to grow out. which i'm sure none of us would do. -.-;

If you get them done at a salon, your hair will be a lot less damaged than if you were to do it yourself. Also, they know what to do when dealing with different kinds of hair. The kit you get could work on certain types of hair and not work on others. Basically the salon is more risk-free, and I would rather pay up the extra cash than ruin my hair and pay even MORE money to get it fixed.

Though I do not have the white and fair skin the models usually have.. I'm more yellow, but still considerably light

I can kinda see two shades of blonde (blame my lame dying lol), but I don't mind it at all. It looks more natural in RL and no one notices it anyway..

It was a salon job. I went to my friend's salon in Apgujeong, Seoul and he does all the kpop singers'/actors' hair, so I felt totally safe going there.

As for products, I try a bunch of stuff. I always use Biosilk after I shower, which definitely makes it shinier and smoother. For a while, I was using the L'Oreal Mega Moisture treatment every other day, but I've run out. D:

Omg your hair looks great. Off topic but I love the first picture from the second row. Your hair is so dark and your face is pale and it just looks... so awesome. biggrin.gif

Ah, thanks. I liked that look, too, but soon after, I cut my hair (it's TOOOO humid and sweaty in Seoul) and got a tan (went to a gorgeous beach for a week). So now...brown, shorter hair and tan skin. I look really different!

Oh wow! That's like the colour I've been looking for for so long lmfao and my hair currently is like the exact same shade as yours before. Can I ask how long you left it on for? [I know time will vary for everyone cuz everyone's hair is different I'm just curious lol] I was gonna use Garnier 100% Dark golden Brown but maybe I should try this one. If it's uneven that sucks but i hink overall the colour is very nice. Thankfully I'm pretty darn used to at home dying lmfao.

if you have dark hair, i would choose a light brown colour because your hair would naturally take a dark brown colour. I think i left mine on for around 30-35 minutes?
