[clamav-win32] "program files" vs %ProgramFiles%

That may be better, or not. If clamav is installed to the default program directory you are right. But the command line option is still needed to choose a totally different application directory, lets say z:\antivirus\clamav. The system wide environment variable would not help in that case. The only possibility apart from the command line would be to let the installer write the path to the registry and clamd.exe use that value and the relative path \conf\clamd.conf to locate the config file. I for myself like programs, that don't use the registry. I am happy that Nigel offers the files comprising clamav apart from the installer msi, so upgrading is just stop the daemon and copy over, uninstalling is just deleting.
Regards
Thilo

Yeah, but why use this uncomfortable workarround, if one could use a system wide environment variable like ProgramFiles?
Hardcoding a path was a common problem in the past, but should stay in the past.
Just my 2 Ct.

In the config file change the path of data, temp and program dir accordingly. I mangaged to run the deamon on d:\clamav some time ago, it is possible.
