Repeated windows update KB967715 offers every time the computer reboots. ( “disable Autorun registry key” ) - KB 967715

What is this update (KB967715) is for?

As we know USB flash drives can spreads Virus if it has got infected , it spreads by executing the autorun.inf file that virus creates on the flash drive, the autorun.inf is driver files that has inbuilt commands to execute a xyz.exe virus on the same drive flash ( since somebody has to execute it ) which replicates on to the root folder of the drive; for all the drives available on the computer , and slow down the pc as it might be sending your personal info to the company who created the virus , this updates disables the feature of autorun feature in windows and changes user experience for the drives for which Autorun is disabled. The double-click and right-click shortcut menu functionality might be different because the Autorun.inf file is no longer read.

So the update KB967715 is an important update and it is necessary to be installed on the computer to prevent Virus when using Flash drive or Thumb drive

The conficker worm is so hard to detect because you usually can’t detect it if you have it because your computer is disabled from the websites and tools that allow you to scan for it. In this case you usually have to have a friend with a “not infected” computer help you to remove it from yours.

    that did not do anything..
It says a lot about Microsoft when a fairly popular service like Windows Live Messenger is completely down and they do nothing to help despite all the people trying to figure this out in different forums all over the internet.

I tried method one. When I click on System Tools, there is no Local Users and Groups.
    Here’s what I find:
    Task Scheduler
    Event viewer
    Shared Folders
    Reliability and Performance
    Device Manager

Here’s my problem that only recently developed:

I’ve tried everything I possibly can think of and I still have the same problem, the red x over the network icon in the task bar at startup.

I used a stopwatch to see just how long I had to wait for the red x to disappear and it is exactly one and a half minutes.

Meanwhile, both the router and modem show an Internet connection during the wait for the x to disappear.

Additionally, while I am waiting for the red x to disappear, I am locked out from doing anything, even though everything on the desktop is visible. I cannot even open the control panel or run msconfig nor open my e-mail account. I have to wait. No one seems to be able to solve this problem.

I am using Windows Vista Home Premium
I have one other computer hooked to this network, but it is rarely on when mine is and that one does not have this problem that I have.

    thanks
    jt

    Good article. Very detailed.

I would agree with everything in there, except maybe add a spyware scan in the mix somewhere near the beginning. Malwarebytes is a good free program, but you shouldn’t rely on any single program 100%.

Always keep a good antivirus (not a free one) installed and up to date.
