The Black Abbey intruder

AN AGILE daredevil entered the Black Abbey, one of the city's historical gems in the early hours of Monday morning.
The culprit scaled scaffolding around the perimeter of the building and managed to gain entry through an upstairs window. The person then entered the library and the church area before exiting through the front door empty-handed. A garda spokesman co
nfirmed that no property had been taken and that there was no substantial damage. Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the environs of the Black Abbey between 10pm on Sunday (January 17) and 6am the following morning is asked to contact local gardai on 056 772 22 22.




Foreign nationals mug female


THREE foreign nationals mugged a lone female as she walked along Abbey Street at 11pm on Friday night. A purse, containing cash was snatched out of her bag as she walked down the street. Anyone who saw the incident is asked to contact the gardai on 056 772 22 22.




Stolen property recovered


A LARGE quantity of power tools have been recovered from a derelict house by gardai.


Members of the public, who have had tools or generators stolen are asked to contact the garda station to make an appointment to view the goods. The goods were recovered from Hebron House last Wednesday.




Gardai make drug arrests


THREE men have been arrested in the city in recent days for suspected possession of drugs for personal use.


Two men were arrested and questioned in relation to heroin seizures and one male was questioned in relation to possession of cannabis. All men were later released without charge and the substances have been sent to garda headquarters for analysis.
