In an effort to accommodate our contestants who still need time to prepare and submit a Youtube video, we are thrilled to announce that we are extending the contest until 12:00 AM on February 10!

Six String Theory ~ The Album

We're happy to announce the album is underway. "Six String Theory" features superstar guitarists from the worlds of rock, blues, country, jazz/fusion, acoustic, and classical/flamenco. The album, co-produced by Ritenour and Concord Records Executive VP John Burk, will be released on Concord Records in the summer of 2010. In December, 2009 we recorded tracks featuring Lee Ritenour, John Scofield, Mike Stern, and Keb Mo. This January we will be recording with BB King, Taj Mahal, George Benson, Pat Martino, Steve Lukather, Neal Schon, Guthrie Govan, and Andy McKee.

We're also getting lots of exciting entries to our international guitar competition. There's still one more month left for you to join the contest (see below for more info).

The Yamaha Six String Theory Guitar Competition

In partnership with Yamaha Corporation, we are pleased announce the international online "Yamaha Six String Theory Guitar Competition!"

Guitarists from all over the world have been signing up and submitting videos to the Yamaha Six String Theory Guitar Competition! Legendary guitarist and producer Lee Ritenour is giving you a chance to be a featured guest on the album "String Theory." From October 1, 2009 through February 1, 2010 you will be able to submit your audition videos through SixStringTheory.com in one of six categories: Rock, Blues, Jazz/Fusion, Country, Acoustic and Classical/Flamenco. The six finalists, one in each category, will come to Los Angeles to compete in the final competition to determine the winner on March 22, 2010 at the Broad Stage. The grand prize winner will be featured as a special guest on a track with one of our all-star guitarists and awarded a full tuition scholarship to Berklee!
