Tuesday 12th January 2010 @ 18:00pm

The prolonged freeze over Christmas and the early days of January caused a dramatic increase in broken water mains. The ground will move as the thaw continues during the week beginning 11th January and this will cause further damage and breakages to the water mains, resulting in increased loss of water. All areas are experiencing reduced water pressure

In addition, the following areas are currently without water:

Northside

Finglas

Cabra

Killester

Coolock

North Circular Road (some sections)

Southside

Rathgar

Rathmines

Terenure

Portable water will be available from stationary tankers at the following locations as of 16.45pm 12/01/10:
As a precautionary measure water from tankers should be boiled before using for drinking or cooking purposes.

Northside

Cabra at Ventry park
Shopping centre, Cardiffsbridge Rd, Finglas
Pelletstown at Ratoath Rd
Middle 3rd, Killester
St Canices Church, Finglas Village
Belclare Park, Poppintree

Southside

Saint Joseph's Church at Terenure Road East
Junction of Rathgar Ave & Rathgar Rd.

These locations are subject to change depending on demand. Other tankers will also be deployed to meet demand. Mobile tankers will be available to provide water to hospitals and nursing homes.
Other mobile tankers will be on roaming duties in areas without water.

Please call 01 222 4221 or 222 0600 to arrange for a tanker to call to the elderly or those most at need.

Both mobile & stationary tankers will need to be replenished. They will be available until 8pm, depending on demand.

We ask members of the public to bear with us as our staff deal with an extremely high volume of calls and respond to queries on disruption to water supplies throughout the day. Regular updates will be posted to our website as soon as they are available.
