That was a pretty amazing CM. Very inspiring, you're sure moving on up. Keep up the great work Danny-san, you have my full support =]

I thought the CM was really great and was a great intro to who DannyChoo was to the rest of the world. But still ... I belong to the Canon camp =P

Likewise, I really enjoyed this commercial, too. It just has a really personable vibe to it. It's still an ad and all, but the atmosphere of it just did a great job of making sure it wasn't just "Buy our product please," but rather, "This is the sort of passion which can be put to good use with our help." I liked it and wish more ads were like this one.

the idea for the cm is quite fresh when compared to the rest of the commercials around. i guess that what makes it different is that it was probably designed with their website in mind first, then the for the tube later.

good stuff man, maybe we'll be seeing more of this sorta stuff with you....maybe later even incorporate mirai inc...maybe, never know what the future holds! best of luck!

[Though I have to admit the experience was made a lot better by hearing your unique accent: sounds mostly British but you pronounce the Japanese words like "uchimizu" like a native :)]

Another milestone for you!

Not sure if these air elsewhere, but I often see Canon's commercials for the Rebel Xsi with Avril Lavigne as their spokesperson.

I've always liked Canon cameras, but I much prefer Danny's commercial to Avril's.

Anyway i am a Canon user but really always thinking of getting a Nikon D90, i prefer their color over and sharpness over the Canon DSLR.

First place, what a great ad!! They really nailed at incentivating people to go out and take pictures!

That said, it was great Danny!! I had never seen you talking and I enjoyed it very much! Your voice is different than I imagined! hehe

When you talked about the photos and I recognized almost all of them, I felt really proud too. Because in a way I feel like a part of Danny Choo's blog, since I'm here everyday, read every article, read lots of users and guests articles and even show to my friends and family lots of things I see, watch and read here.

Your motivational articles, for example, cause great impact in mee, since I too dream of living in Japan.

I honestly hope I can meet you someday and we can chat about Japan while eating lots of din-dins! lol

This is the first time i hear you speaking english, Nice video, feel very elegent in it.

I'm guessing you'll get a D90. DSLR with video just like you want it, but still a more compact package than the Canon 5d. Video is not as nice as a dedicated camcorder but less gadgets means less things to carry.

Or maybe the D5000? but I think you're above the D5000, it seems a bit noobish... The sensor is the same though so the IQ should be similar.

What a great commercial, Danny! I've been reading your blog for some time now (ever since you were a guest blogger on BoingBoing) and one of the things I've been most impressed by are your photos. Besides having a terrific camera, you've got a terrific eye. Some of the shots you took over a foggy Tokyo, in particular, I thought were fabulous. As someone who's never been to Japan, your photos allow me to transport myself, if only for a moment, around the world.

I like the fact they allowed you to express yourself and inject your own personality into the commercial and show how photography plays a role into your life and into expressing yourself. It' snot just a commercial about Nikon and a camera, but more about, what does photography mean to you and for you, how does it link your life to others.

The background music bugs me, and makes it hard to hear you at points. But that's just the editor/sound design guy in me talking. ^^;

I was wondering why they had a warehouse - nice look they've got there, with that wide expanse of space and black background playing your usual outfit to its full strength. Very, very nice. Do wonder if they have to pay Crypton and GSC for the right to use those Miku pictures though.

I like the money shot where it said "Danny Chu" ^_^

Whoa, you got me a little confused here - I though the CM is on Nikon web, looked for 10 minutes and didn't find, then I came here and here it was. Youtube videos don't show up on feed readers. ^^;

Anyway - totally loved the commercial. I think it did exactly what it's meant to do, to show the watcher that one really can capture his/her life in a still. Totally loved it.

they misspelled "Choo" with "Chu" in the clapper type thingie..hehe

That was actually really interesting, and i love the serious yet light-heartedness of the commercial. It was also nice to actually hear you talk, heh.
