So I haven't read a single book from this list, but I know those names are familiar. And sign me up for Taiyou no Shita de Warae. Any book with boxing gloves on the cover I will automatically classify as SAMA.

生意気。 by: 鹿乃 しうこ I'm Not Your Stepping Stone by Shiuko Kano Magazine Magazine/June Comics BL/1 vol |
Keep this between the two of us but Sakura Ashika she does mainstream manga. Had to mention that as she is one of my favorite artists. No one does loli-bunnies and big-boobed meganekko like Sakura Ashika.
If you can find info on Stepping Stone, send it on over.
Actually I don't know a thing. If I shared with you what I got from BroBooks before NYCC officially started, I'd be hurt big time Yoki, Koto, Kiku style. Well, that's not true, I know for a fact that the World of Disgaea book is possibly one of the finest productions of a video game character guide/mook I have seen in the west. With its hardcover and extras this thing is right up there with some of the better Japanese game mooks. Nothing compares with the Shinseisha Street Fighter Collections but this is a looker (expect a Disgaea only podcast soon). I got to make sure the Prinnys do not hang around it, don't want to see it blown up accidentally.
I got to sit down with Broccoli Editor/Producer Dietrich Seto at NYCC on Thrusday. We did the MangaBio thing, Dietrich is more of an anime fan than a manga fiend but he knows enough to hold his own. We didn't go into too much detail about Boysenberry... We both took a red-eye into NY earlier that day and BL was not really on our minds. But we did talk about vinyl figures... Listen to it here:
And after you listen to me and Dietrich jet lag in stereo pre-order the following books okay. Do it or who knows what the FoxGirl will do!?

DrMaster - Jan, 2007
by: Gokurakuin Sakurako
The battle against Hainuwele and her salacious spawn rages on as Asagi and his crew struggle to help a young woman save her brother, who was reborn as a flesh doll freak, from the beautiful but deadly black freaks. Elsewhere, Hainuwele bides her time in a provisional lair in a dark corner somewhere in the sprawling expanse that is Tokyo as she recovers from her last scrap with the Stand. Later, a brief lull in the war against the freaks provides Asagi time for a much needed rest, and Izumi the opportunity to entertain the others (and us!) with a haunting, but illuminating, tale from the past. Ever wonder how and when the Stand came to be? The only way to find out is to pick up this action-packed third installment of Category: Freaks.

by: Taniguchi Jiro
The Meija Era (1868-1912) was probably the most defining period in Japanese history. It was a time of massive change from the more traditional; Takugawa era to a positioning of Japan in the modern world. Contemporary writer, Soseki Natsume, suffered due to all the social and cultural changes and expressed his feelings through his character Botchan, a classic in the vein of Mark Twain or Charles Dickens. This massive work over 10 volumes could, in other hands, have been but an informed text book. However, the solid script by Sekigawa explores the period through an adult story whilst the art by Taniguchi portrays the material with exquisite and elegant detail. An internationally renowned work finally becoming available in English.
Dark Horse - March 14, 2007
Story by: Yamasaki Housui
Private detective Reiji Akiba has a theory about those awkward moments and weird coincidences we all encounter in life. They are actually encounters with the dead-their way of sending us a message. But you may not want to open such strange mail from beyond-not unless you can see the ghostly attachment, like Akiba can. And not unless you carry a tool that can kill what isn't alive, like Akiba's sanctified gun Kagutsuchi . . . digging a divine grave to lay to rest the evil dead!
Volume Three opens with Detective Akiba taking a trip down memory lane, to his childhood, when as a young blind boy, he befriended a little girl in the woods near his house. In "Un-notifying," Detective Akiba must help a young woman terrorized by the ghost of a lonely girl whose lifeline to the world of the living is an old cell phone.
? Note this is the final installment of Mail, but Akiba's adventures continue in two months, when he crosses over to appear in The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service Vol. 4!
