SOUTH Perth’s Royal Perth Golf Club will host the Handa Australian Senior Open over October 23-25, featuring legend of the game Peter Senior.
Entry to the event, which Sydney hosted for the past two years, is a gold coin donation with proceeds going towards junior golf.
The 54 hole tournament precedes the Handa Australia Cup, the world’s only golf tournament to have male and female professionals playing alongside male and female amateurs golfers.
The Cup is one of only two competitions where men and women compete for the same trophy.
Tournament Chairman Wayne Smith said it was Peter Senior’s first outing in the tournament after recently qualifying by turning 50.
Spectators will also have the chance to see the tee-off of top golfers Ian Baker-Finch, Jan Stephenson, Rodger Davis and Terry Gale.
Tournament’s sponsor Haruhisa Handa said he was thrilled for Perth to host the Handa Australian Senior Open. “The Handa Australia Cup is about joining the generations – bringing together rising stars and past champions in one unique tournament – so it was a perfect fit to have the senior men’s event in Perth as well.”
Dr Handa will also continue sponsoring the Australian Blind Golf Championship played before the Handa Australia Cup on October 28-29.
