Yosh*to Usui - creator of the manga Crayon Shin-chan, which is vastly popular in Eastern countries, fell to his death recently.

Personally I have seen a few of his comics, they were cute and funny in a way but didn't really hold my attention. I don't think many people in the West have seen his work though.

I was surprised to learn of his untimely demise. RIP.

Wow. I used to watch it when my family was stationed in Hawaii on the Japanese channel in the early 90s. Shin-chan made Bart Simpson look like a pacifist. Smiley: laugh Unique, and appropriate art direction. The show was about a kid and his point of view of the world, and the art just looked right. There was very little I disliked, and wish I could watch those earlier episodes again.

Really sad news, though.
