CG Anime Tie-in to .hack//Link PSP Game Announced.
Bandai Namco Games has announced at Tokyo Game Show on Thursday that a full-CG anime project will tie into its .hack//Link action role-playing game, which will ship for the Japanese PSP console next February. Bandai Visual will produce the anime. The staffers indicated that the media format will not be a television series. CyberConnect2’s video team “sai” is also producing entirely new full-CG animation for the game, but did not provide more details during Thursday’s announcement.

Live-Action Bubblegum Crisis Hires via Reality TV Show.
The Star newspaper of Malaysia reports that the winner of the HP Space reality television series will be hired to work on the staff for the live-action film adaptation of the Bubblegum Crisis anime series. Aspiring creative professionals in the Asia Pacific region can submit an audition video until September 27 to be among the 36 applicants of the show, which is named after its Hewlett-Packard sponsor. After the applicants are winnowed to 12 finalists, the final round in Singapore will select the winner of the US$50,000 grand prize and the job.

Body Identified as Crayon Shin-chan’s Yoshito Usui
On Sunday, authorities have identified the body discovered at Arafune mountain as that of missing Crayon Shin-chan manga creator Yoshito Usui through dental records and other means.
The body was discovered 120 meters below the mountain’s Tomoiwa cliff and reported at about 10:25 a.m. on Saturday by a male climber. Usui’s backpack, camera, and other items had fallen about 50 meters away. Inside Usui’s backpack was his mobile phone, wallet, and clothes. A police helicopter from Gunma Prefecture airlifted the body on Sunday afternoon. Police from the nearby town of Shimonita concluded that the 51-year-old creator died from collapsed lungs and other injuries sustained across his entire body sometime in the afternoon of September 11.

Crayon Shin-Chan to Continue in Mag Until November
The Sankei Sports paper reports that Futabasha’s Manga Town magazine will continue serializing the Crayon Shin-chan manga from the late creator Yoshito Usui until its December issue, which will ship in November. Usui had already submitted his art for two more installments. Usui had met with his editors on September 7 and talked with them over the phone two days later, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary at the time. Authorities have determined on Sunday that Usui died from injuries sustained from a fall at Arafune mountain on the afternoon of September 11.

Halo Legends Preview on Spike TV.
The Spike TV network will preview scenes from “The Babysitter” short of the Japanese-animated Halo Legends anthology during the GTTV Presents Halo 3: ODST Countdown to Launch special at midnight on early Friday morning. Halo Legends is a collection of seven short films based on Microsoft Studios’ Halo game franchise. The BONES, Casio Entertainment, Production I.G, Studio 4°C, and Toei Animation anime studios are animating these side stories about the war between humans and the alien Covenant.
According to Spike TV, “The Babysitter” follows mankind’s Spartan super-soldier and the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers “when an all-or-nothing opportunity to strike at the heart of Covenant leadership arises.”
Warner Brothers will release the anthology via DVD, Blu-ray Disc, and digital distribution in early 2010.
