Yoshito Usua, creator of Crayon Shin-chan found dead
Yoshito Usui, creator and author of the long-running manga series Crayon Shin-chan, was found dead on September 20th at Mt. Arafune in Japan.
He had left for a day-long hiking trip to Gunma Prefecture on September 11th, and was missing for several days before his body was found and identified by authorities on Sunday. The future of the Shin-chan manga is "to be determined", according to the editorial staff at Futabasha's Manga Town magazine. Link to Anime News Network article

Wow. That really sucks. I never read Shin-Chan religiously, but I laughed at it whene ver I read it. Good stuff.
Well, I suppose that in a couple of years it will serve as an unusual footnote for the creator of such a massive hit manga and for the series itself. Poor guy.

Sad story, I love the TV show. My wife used to bring me episodes she recorded, so there was no English dubbing or subtitles. I had difficulty following it at times, but still enjoyed it.
RIP. |

That's really sad.
I never heard of Shin-Chan until they started airing episodes on Adult Swim a while back, but I instantly fell in love with it, and found it fucking hilarious. One of my favorite quotes to this day is when his sensei was explaning why he got sent home from school: Shin was sent home early because he playing super pooper...apparently this time he wasn't wearing super pants. Seriously though, what a tragedy. My heart goes out to his family. |

Stealing the picture of the cliff from the ANN forums. This is definitely a cliff I would not mess with.
