RIP Shin-chan’s Yoshito Usui
Posted by: Netto on September 21, 2009 at 3:00 PMIn an unfortunate event, Crayon Shin-chan’s creator Yoshito Usui had been involved in an accident on his hiking trip on a mountain, and had said to had fallen to his demise. On 11th September, Usui had reported missing after he had lost total contact with his wife.
This instigated a search for him on the mountains of the Gunma Prefecture, where male remains had been found. It is identified to be Usui through a variety of methods, such as dental records and other means. Usui had apparently fallen about 120 meters below the mountain’s Tomoiwa cliff and had presumably died from collapsed lungs as well as other injuries that were sustained across his body.
Crayon Shin-chan is an extremely popular manga that had been dated way back from the past. The manga follows the adventurer of Shin-chan, a naughty kindergarten boy who is all out to create trouble for people. There are some explicit content in the manga (as well as it’s anime adaptation), but they are generally considered as mild, since they aren’t really what people would think it is.
But with the demise of it’s creator, it seems that Shin-chan would have to end it’s journey soon. Usui had apparently submitted another two more installments before his hike, so it’s announced that the series will go on until Usui’s work has been all published. A great way to respect such a person like him.
It’s still rather sad though, seeing that such a great person has left us. I’m sure some of the local TV channels in various countries would have shown the anime at least once, seeing that Shin-chan has been an amazing success in the past, being adapted into many Gameboy games as well as films.
R.I.P, Yoshito Usui. We will miss you.
