Police have ruled out suicide in the death of the creator of the Shin-chan series having reviewed the last photos taken by the creator moments before his death. It appears he was trying to take a precarious photo of the cliff from which he fell. They added there was no sign of a suicide note.

It’s a sad time for many manga fans and especially the family of the famed creator of Crayon Shin-Chan, Yoshito Usui.

Prior to his death Usui had submitted art for more installments of the manga, and publication will continue in Manga Town magazine until through the November issue. Futabasha, the publisher of Manga Town, also extended their condolences to Usui’s family. The anime’s fate is currently undecided, but the producers of the show have expressed interest in continuing on with the show.

The title character of Crayon Shin-Chan is Shinnosuke Nohara, a mischievous five-year old who has a knack for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, and generally getting into trouble. Crayon-Shin Chan has been adapted as an animated TV series and 17 feature-length animated films. CMX Manga is currently publishing the Crayon Shin-Chan manga in the U.S., with Volume 10 due out in December 2010.
