Mr. Yukio Hatoyama, a member of the House of Representatives, was appointed as the Prime Minister at plenary sessions of both the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors. Prime Minister Hatoyama became the 93rd Prime Minister (the 60th person to assume the post) since Hirobumi Ito, the first Prime Minister of Japan.
