Marc Baker
Marc Baker graduated Yale University with a B.A. in Religious Studies, after which he received a Dorot Fellowship to spend the year working and studying in Israel. Marc was the Assistant Director of Camp Bauercrest, a Jewish sports camp for boys located in Massachusetts, and was the Director of Athletics and Extracurricular Activities for the New Jewish High School of Boston (now Gann Academy). He spent four years living in Jerusalem and studying at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies, as a Fellow and as a pioneer of the Pardes Educators Program. As a part of that program, he also completed his M.A. in Jewish Education at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Marc received his rabbinic ordination in the winter of 2004 from Rabbi Danny Landes, Rosh Yeshiva of Pardes, along with two other Pardes teachers. Marc lives in Atlanta with his wife Jill and his two children, Elisha and Meital. He is currently a teacher and Director of Judaics and Student Life at The Weber School, Atlanta's Transdenominational Jewish High School. He also teaches adults in the Atlanta community with Pardes Atlanta and through the Jewish Community Center.
Rabbi Louis Feldstein
Rabbi Feldstein is a senior managing director of UJC Consulting and leads its Knowledge Management Team. Previously, he served as director of the Southeast/Southeast Florida Area offices of United Jewish Communities. Prior to joining the national staff team in 2000, he was the executive director of the Jewish Young Adult Agency (YAD); a Jewish outreach agency serving 18-35 year olds in the Atlanta area. Prior to moving to Atlanta, Rabbi Feldstein was the director of the Hillel Jewish Student Center at the University of Miami for five years. He is an educator, lecturer and rabbi-in-residence, speaking to and facilitating workshops for numerous federation, campus, synagogue and Jewish organizational groups.
Prior to coming to UJC, Doron served for 10 years as the National Director of Young Judaea, the Zionist youth movement sponsored by Hadassah.
Doron was the founding chairman of the North American Alliance for Jewish Youth (NAA), the umbrella organization for the field of informal Jewish education, comprising youth groups/movements, summer camps, Israel and university programs. He served as chairman from 1996 - 2000.
Riki Mullu
Riki was born in Ethiopia. In 1977, she left Ethiopia before the first Israeli airlift. She was thirteen years old when she arrived in Israel. Seven years later, three of her sisters came along with 2,500 Ethiopian-Jewish orphans to Israel. Riki was working for Youth Aliyah in the Medical Service Department. Youth Aliyah established a program called "Health Education for Ethiopian Youth." In 1987, returned to Ethiopia in an attempt to bring her parents and three brothers to Israel. She returned to work with Youth Aliyah and remained there until 1991, speaking with various Israeli groups about Ethiopian Jewry on many occasions. During the last six months before arriving in the United States, she was asked by the Amit Women's Organization to organize a touring program for adult Ethiopian women. In 1991, she moved to New York City. Since that time she has been speaking about Jewish life in Ethiopia and the absorption of airlifted Ethiopian-Israeli immigrants.
Joshua Nelson
Joshua Nelson was discovered when he was eight years old. He has spread the sheer joy and fervent spirituality of Gospel music to audiences from New Jersey to Jerusalem and throughout the world. Nelson has performed in concert halls, synagogues, churches and at various outdoor venues, both solo and with various musical luminaries. Nelson recently embarked on an extensive European tour. He toured Israel (performing in perfect Hebrew as well as English) and had the opportunity to sing "Hatikvah," the Israeli national anthem, at Binyanei Ha'uma Hall in Jerusalem for an audience that included the President of Israel.
Joshua Nelson graduated from Newark's Arts High School in Newark, N.J. He currently serves as the Minister of Music at Hopewell Baptist Church in Newark. He is a proponent of preserving traditional Gospel music and travels worldwide performing the music in its original form. His cultural and religious background and extensive travels through Israel influenced him to create a new form of music, blending Jewish liturgical and African American musical styles.
Will Recant
Will Recant is the Assistant Executive Vice-President of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and serves as the senior staff person for JDC’s non-sectarian and disaster relief programs. In this capacity, he coordinates projects relating to the rescue, relief, and renewal of Jewish communities worldwide and develops non-sectarian programs.
Will is also the Desk Director for Latin America and Europe Community Development. He was actively involved in obtaining JDC’s license to work in Cuba and has made dozens of trips there. He is currently working closely with JDC’s programs in Argentina.
Rachael Karp Rosenberg
Rachael Karp Rosenberg is a devoted volunteer and advocate for helping individuals with disabilities in Atlanta. Rachael and her husband Jack of 47 years have three children, Sharon, Richard and Marla. Marla, who has a disability, has received services from various organizations in Atlanta, such as The Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta and its Jewish Family and Career Services. Currently, Marla lives independently in association with independent living program -- ILP -- of Jewish Family and Career Services. Rachael and Jack are being honored at “Celebrating Parents,” which is an event for parents with dedication and determination to help build programs to better serve the disabled community.
Eric Saperston
Eric Saperston is an accomplished storyteller, director and executive producer and is the founder and chief creative officer of Journey Productions, Inc. Saperston graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Speech Communication. Now, 10 years later, he has gone on to become an award-winning performer and storyteller, performing individually and with multi-platinum musical artists as he spins entertaining and heartfelt stories to organizations such as Nike, Coke, General Mills and to such distinguished universities as Harvard, UCLA, Georgia Tech and Stanford. His unique blend of humor, wisdom and inspiration makes him a nationally recognized and sought after speaker, but his real gift is inspiring other people so that they can together use the most powerful medium in the world to entertain, touch and inspire the world. To this end, Saperston directed, along side his team, an award-winning short film and a feature film, both entitled "The Journey." In addition, he directed and produced with his team from Journey Productions a 12-part episodic mini-series for Volkswagen and several provocative short films.
Mark Wilf
Mark Wilf is National Campaign Chairman of United Jewish Communities, serves on the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency for Israel and is the immediate past UJC National Major Gifts Chair. He has also recently completed serving as President of the Jewish Federation of Central New Jersey. Mark is continuing his family’s longtime commitment to Jewish and Israeli causes and philanthropy. Wilf, 42, is past chair of the UJA National Young Leadership Cabinet and is a principal in the Garden Homes Development, a family-owned real estate business. He has filled leadership roles in a variety of Jewish communal organizations, including the Jewish Educational Center in Elizabeth; Israel Bonds; the Anti-Defamation League; the Solomon Schechter Day School of Essex and Union Counties; Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA) and the Jewish Community Center in Scotch Plains.
Mark Wright
Mark Wright is a practicing attorney in Tampa, Florida representing clients in a wide variety of civil litigation, with an emphasis on personal injury and wrongful death. Mark is a past co-chair of the United Jewish Communities National Young Leadership Cabinet. He has lectured extensively to dozens of federations and synagogues on such topics as campaign training, young leadership development, overseas needs, Israel at 50 and the Aleph Bets of federation.
