To CajuninSC---Good reply-thanks. I do understand it is extrememly difficult to see something on the water. The radar part was what I was getting at, but I had forgetten about radar and non-reflective fiberglass, which is probably what those hulls were made of. What they needed was a portable folding radar reflector---which if they had one, it was probably trapped in some compartment below. Your point about lights is well ltaken. I'm going online and order strobe lights and whistles for each of my lifejackets on my boat, along with a foldup radar reflector. Thanks.

Heard the Coast Guard calls for anyone seeing this boat all weekend. They were reported going to the Tequila rig, about 70 miles off Port A. It sits at 100 fathoms and is a hell of a fishing spot but sure enough a lonely (and beautiful) place, especially on a 23 footer. You can bet these are some hearty souls. Prayers answered.
