Open Explorer to a Folder dadiOH's dandies
Handy Dandies

I probably use Windows Explorer more than any other program. Thank heavens I finally heard of the Winkey+E to open it. That was a time saver but I still had to click my way down to the folder I wanted. Even using the built in Windows keyboard controls, it was a pain.

I finally found a method of opening Explorer at a specific folder, either using a shortcut or Hot Key Plus.

Shortcut
You make a shortcut the same way as in "Reboot & Shut Down Shortcuts" but you put the following in the target window...

C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /n,/e,C:\folder path
Note that in shortcuts there must be a space between
"C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE"
and
"/n,/e,C:\folder path"

The part that says "C:\folder path" is the full path to the folder to which you want Windows Explorer to open. An easy way to get it is to open Explorer, browse to the folder you want and copy it from the address bar.

Keyboard Shortcut
If you'd rather reboot/shutdown with keyboard shortcuts, you could easily do that with Hot Key Plus. The only difference is that you need to break the "Target" into "Command line" and "Parameters" like this...

  Shortcut "Target" line:
Hot Key Plus "Command line"
Hot Key Plus "Parameters"
C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /n,/e,C:\folder path
C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE
/n,/e,C:\folder path
