1. Don’t get your hair bleached-blonde just before setting off for sunnier climes, the sun will do some of that for you. If it’s already bleached, you could end up with straw-like brittle hair & chlorine has some odd effects on bleach too, so talk to your stylist about how best to protect it. 3. Remember also to pack plenty of leave-in conditioner and added UV protection, which you can apply before you head to the beach and continuously throughout the day to protect your locks from the sun’s harsh rays. L'Oreal's Solar Sublime range of aftersun products are ideal. A sun protect shampoo, nourishing balm and conditioning spray formulated especially for after sun use. To add extra strength ask about Super Strength Liquid Treatment by Paul Mitchell. Formulated with a Super Strong Complex to improve the strength of chemically-treated, damaged, weak or fine hair. 4.Making UV protection for your hair is pretty easy too! Simply dilute 2 teaspoons of SPF 25 sun block down with one cup of water. Using a spray bottle, spray the product into your damp hair before styling. For additional protection, you can mist the solution on throughout the day. 5. Maintain Moisture! Weekly deep conditioning treatments will help keep the damage by the sun at a minimum. Because the sun breaks down the hair's protein (keratin) its important to use a deep conditioning treatment with protein or keratin. Try Rosemary and Peppermint Detangler by John Masters Organics. 6. Clarify! If you're using a UV protection in your hair, don't forget to use a clarifying shampoo once a week. SPF will build up on your hair shaft. Take along - Herbal Cider Hair Rinse and Clarifier. 7. Protection for your part! Apply full strength SPF directly onto the scalp, especially where you part your hair. The scalp's direct exposure to the sun can burn and peel! |
