    http://www.amazon.com/100-Greatest-Metal-Guitarists/dp/1906002207/

    here are the top 20 ( LOL @ 20 and 19 )

remember this isnt based soely on technical skill, its based on impact, influence, technique, different things they play, how much they contribute to their band, and technical skill.. so.. pretty much the overall person. ( if it were just technical skill, Iommi wouldnt even be on the top 100)

    20. Herman Li
    19. Mick Thompson (that's right, the guy from Slipknot.)
    18. Kerry King
    17. Ihsahn
    16. Tom Morello
    15. Kirk Hammett
    14. Ralph Santolla
    13. Alex Skolnick
    12. Pat O'Brien
    11. Fredrik Thordendal
    10. Chuck Schuldiner
    9. Mikael Akerfeldt
    8. James Hetfield
    7. Trey Azagthoth
    6. Tony Iommi
    5. Dimebag Darrell
    4. Zakk Wylde
    3. Jeff Waters
    2. John Petrucci
    1. Dave Mustaine

How exactly did Kirk Hammet score lower than James Hetfield? Hammet plays lead guitar and Hetfield plays rhythm (as a general rule, of course)

And I'm glad Petrucci scored that high, although I would put him first

probly because james writes the lyrics, sings and plays.. and he's actually a better player than kirk.. also james most of the time tells kirk what to play, kirk complained about this on some kind of monster, saying he really has no say on what he gets to add, pretty much all kirk does get to do is make up a solo for a specific time slot... james and lars forced him to use mustaine's solo's for the songs on kill em all and RTL... so yeah... james is the real backbone of metallica.. kirk is the hired gun lead player.

oh. Okay, I guess that makes sense then. I was never big enough into that band to know that. Forgive my ignorance.

i doubt suicmez would be high up darth, this isnt a 100 best technically skilled guitar players list, necrophagist isnt really popular... read what i said on the main post. as i said, if it was technically skilled, Iommi wouldnt even be int he book.

Sounds about right... Dave Mustaine is one of the most devoted guys to his band I've ever seen.He writes all the songs, he sings while playing some killer riffs, and he can dish out a mean solo too.Plus, not many people could get kicked out and deserted by their best friends, far far away from home and get over it the way he did.

Herman Li shouldn't be in that list. He's terribly sloppy.

What else could he say when in every single interview he ever done, the subject of his ejection from Metallica came up?

Not be whiney. Say it sucked, sure, but when he talks about it he sounds whiney and annoying.
