'We Want Her Back'
Rifqa Bary, 17, is at the center of a dispute that stretches from Ohio to Florida. She ran away from her Ohio home in July, fearing her parents would harm her for converting to Christianity. She was raised in the Islam faith. Her parent say they love their daughter and would never hurt her.

A judge in Orlando ruled Friday that Rifqa Bary will remain in foster care in Florida until another hearing is held Sept. 3.
The teenager disappeared last month and police used phone and computer records to track her to the Rev. Blake Lorenz, pastor of Orlando, Fla.-based Global Revolution Church. Authorities say the teen had met him through an online Facebook prayer group.
The girl's family members, who originally are from Sri Lanka, say they have never threatened to harm her.

Hate to say this, but unless there is undisputable proof from this girl that her parents WILL harm her (if she is returned) because of her conversion to Christianity, then she needs to be returned. Has there been prior violence directed to her or other member of her family by the parents? Have her parents already threatened her? Proof is necessary! After all, would the public want a child/teenager that converted from Christianity to Muslim and ran away to a Muslim cleric, to be returned to their Christian parents? I bet the answer to that is YES.

Harmon14883 09:25 PMAug 22 2009 We must remember, we are not dealing with humans here, humans as we know them. .................Yes we are. Problem is, many of them are far more deluded and made irrational by their religion than the folks who send their kids to Sunday school class to learn about "Noah's Ark" , "burning bushes" , snakes that talk, and 6000 year old planets. In fact, they are so fervent about what they believe they put most Christians to shame. They're willing to die for what they believe so much a few of them took 3000 others with them. Yet this only makes both Christians and THEIR religion look all the more insane.

There was a young girl about her age in Pakistan that turned to Christianity and when the parents finally caught her, they took her in town, and in front of the village, killed her. They have their own culture over there, and laws, that are far from our way of life, as we know it to be.

BTW, has the do-it-yourself pastor in florida healed the girls blind eye yet? I'll bet 100 to 1 thats what he promised her to get her to leave her family "Jesus heals, we wll lay hands on you and you will be able to see". This girls loving parents went to great expense to bring her to the US from the other side of the world, to get medical attention for her bad eye, and THIS IS HOW THEY ARE TREATED IN AMERICA? The US has turned into pure SHIIT!

I believe the judge made the right decision in keeping Rifqa Bary in protective custody away from her family. I just wonder what will happen to her being protected after she turns 18. If I were her, I would either want to have the court allow me to legally change my name before I turn 18, or have it changed once I turn 18. I can believe that she is genuinely afraid of her father after what I had heard in the past of Muslim's 'duty' to kill the 'infidels'.

Thorrsman 09:18 PMAug 22 2009 Laurarvail1 Actually, from what the article says, she was also born in Sri Lanka, not in Ohio. The parents brought her to America for treatment of an eye injury that had left her blind in the right eye. Ironic if they came here to save her sight, but felt that they had to murder her to save their honor..............perhaps we should exercise a bit of common sense here - afterall you righties love to think you have a monopoly on this. Her parents cared enough abouit their daughter to move to the U.S. to get the very best care for her technologically advanced medicine can provide. And people think they're going to kill her for changing religions ? Has anyone checked to see whether or not they consider themselves moderate Muslims ? I have seen more than a few "Christians" on these board who seem to0 be horny to kill someone who disagreed with their religion for lesser 'offenses' than this.

Her best bet is to go under the witness protection program and change her identity.

Al-taqiyya and dissimulation are words used for a practice of Muslims blatantly lying to non-Muslims. All but some of the most fundamental Muslims consider the act of Al-taqiyya or lying to non-Muslims to be a good work. The police need to understand this concept in Islam which her father may be doing. The word "al-Taqiyya" literally means: "Concealing or disguising one's beliefs, convictions, ideas, feelings, opinions, and/or strategies at a time of eminent danger, whether now or later in time, to save oneself from physical and/or mental injury." A one-word translation would be "Dissimulation." The CONCEALMENT of one's beliefs does NOT necessitate an ABANDONMENT of these beliefs.
