Accenture Ltd., an information technology consulting firm that has Bay Area offices in San Jose, San Francisco and Walnut Creek, said it plans to cut 336 senior-level executive positions, according to media reports.

The layoffs total about 7 percent of Accenture’s 4,800 senior executives, Reuters reported Thursday.

The local impact, if any, wasn’t immediately known. Accenture employs 146,000 company wide.

The company, which has its U.S. headquarters in New York, also said it plans to cut office space.

Accenture said it expects to record a $247 million pretax charge related to the restructuring in the fiscal fourth quarter ending Aug. 31, including about $119 million related to the real estate cuts.

Accenture said it continued to expect revenue for the fourth quarter of $5 billion to $5.2 billion.

The company generated net revenue of $23.39 billion for the fiscal year ended Aug. 31, 2008.
