Send a Text Message to Outer Space
In celebration of National Science Week in Australia, the site is collecting text messages from people hoping to get in touch with an E.T. The site, run by Cosmos Magazine, plans on delivering them to one planet in particular -- Gliese 581d, a rocky planet that orbits its star, Gliese, in the so-called habitable zone where liquid water can exist and life might be possible.
The messages, which number nearly 6,000 as of this writing, will be beamed towards the planet, 20.3 light years away, on August 24th, the last day of Science Week. According to MSNBC, Australia's Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex, in conjunction with NASA, will do the honors of rocketing these texts into our galaxy. The messages range from the heartfelt:
If you come to earth look into: music, the beach, ice cream, hugs, family, love, dancing, cheese, trampolines, friendship, books and dreams. Just for a start.to the cheeky:
You are cordially invited to an Interplanetary BBQ. 6.00pm, 4th October, 2452 at my place BYO Meat and Beer. RSVP: Year 2100 Cheers. As well intentioned as the messages are, however, we can't help but feel like we'd be better off sticking with The Beatles. [From: MSNBC and HelloFromEarth.net]
Limited-Edition Game Consoles
Xbox's unveiling of its new, red 'Resident Evil' console is the most recent in a line of limited edition consoles designed to tap in to the "collector" market. While some of the limited edition consoles were released with a specific target audience in mind, others appeal to the sensibilities of all gamers. You can check out some other recent limited edition consoles in the following pages:
Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition PS3:
This bundle not only included a gunmetal gray PS3 with matching wireless controller, but also the MGS4: Guns of the Patriot Limited Edition game.
Nintendo Pokemon DS Lite:
At the forefront of limited edition sales, Nintendo offered this yellow DS complete with Pikachu etching.
Guitar Hero: On Tour DS Bundle:
Nintendo offered fans of this franchise a special silver and black DS featuring a fiery Guitar Hero logo on the cover.
Lilac PSP:
It's not difficult to discern the target audience for this console set to be released with the $199 Hannah Montana Entertainment Pack.
Nintendo Pink Ribbon DS
Nintendo not only pledged five dollars from every purchase of these $129.99 consoles to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, but that they would also donate at least $100,000 in total.

Cool, but they so would edit people's messages so they can try to control things as long as they can.
My message would be, make sure that goodness reigns on earth from 2012 on and that the wicked people are converted to good people willingly.
Your kin,
Sky
